As a durian lover myself, I am always excited to check out Goodwood Park Hotel’s Durian Fiesta and stuff my face silly with their signature durian-centric sweet treats. This year, Goodwood Park Hotel is pulling out all the stops to commemorate the fiesta’s 40th birthday with a give-month-long celebration from 6 March to 6 August 2023. Where my fellow durian lovers at?
The feasting and festivities kick off with an exquisite line-up of decadent durian desserts from the hotel’s pastry chefs. The icons of the Durian Fiesta – ‘Mao Shan Wang’ Power Puff (S$33) and ‘Mao Shan Wang’ Mousse Cake (from S$90) – will also be making an appearance at this year’s event. However, in true icon fashion, they will only be around for a limited time from 1 May 2023 to 6 August 2023.
Also making a glorious comeback are some of the crowd favourites like the D24 Mousse Cake (from S$19), D24 Ice Cream Tub (S$26), and ‘Mao Shan Wang’ Ice Cream Tub (S$42). I am particularly excited for the D24 Crêpe (from S$19) and D24 Puff (from S$36).
Sorry folks, unlike past years, there won’t be a buffet spread. Instead, there will be some new durian-centric creations by the hotel’s pastry chefs making their debut.
The first highlight of this year is the D24 Pandan Coconut Gula Melaka Cake (from S$20), which is a zhng-ed up version of the hotel’s D24 Pandan & Coconut Cake (that was first released in 2005). The cake combines the deliciousness of coconut gula melaka cake with the richness of D24 mousse. Brace yourself for a medley of aromas and flavours with every mouthful.
Another highlight of Goodwood Park Hotel’s Durian Fiesta is the D24 Paris Brest (S$22) which is inspired by the classic French pastry. As its name suggests, the French-inspired pastry swaps out the praline vanilla cream centre for a D24 mousse. It is then finished with an aesthetically piped crown of hazelnut cream and a sprinkle of hazelnut and almond shaving.
The team at Goodwood Park has also come up with an interesting D24 Pineapple-Lime Zest Dome (S$22) that combines the creamy goodness of D24 mousse with the fragrance of pineapple mousse and pineapple glaze. Top it off with lime zest, a dollop of Chantilly cream, and white chocolate hazelnut base, and you get a combination I do find a lil perplexing but well, to each his own I guess.
Other unique creations to look out for are the D24 Honeyed Pear Mousse Bliss (S$22) and the Mini D24 Chocolate Ganache Almond Delight (S$39). The former contains a dash of alcohol, diced William pears, chopped pistachios and edible flowers. The latter features a generous serving of D24 mousse wedged between two housemade chocolate ladyfingers, dusted with icing sugar and crunchy chopped almonds.
Goodwood Park Hotel is also making its celebrations even more exciting by releasing a total of 40 flash deals. You’ll have to watch their Instagram page like a hawk if you want to snag some sweet deals off your favourite treats.
The hotel is also offering Gourmet cardmembers a 20% discount off selected takeaway Durian Fiesta pastries at The Deli. Not a member? No problem. If you hold a Citi, DBS/POSB, HSBC, OCBC, or UOB credit or debit card, you’ll get to enjoy 15% off Durian Fiesta items when you do takeaway.
You can place your orders online or contact The Deli at 6730 1786. Alternatively, you can also email the order form to [email protected] for self-collection takeaway orders only. You’ll need to place your order three days in advance and the last date for pre-order is 3 August 2023.
Every day is treat yourself day! Which of these durian pastries will you be stuffing your face with?
