Calling all Archie Comic fans! If you’ve always wanted to step foot in Riverdale’s iconic Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, now’s your chance.
Gwen’s Frozen Custard & Ices is a brand-new, retro American-style dessert parlour with the most adorable vintage pink theme. And guess what?

It’s Singapore’s first shop specialising in customisable frozen custards and fresh fruit ices!

If you’re wondering what American-style frozen custard is, it’s basically just a creamier, thicker version of ice cream.
Starting from S$6.50, you’ll be able to customise your frozen custard. Choose from flavours such as lychee, mango, chocolate, and more.

Starting from S$4.50, they also serve refreshing fruit ices made with fresh fruits. Known as Philadelphia ices, these frozen treats are thick enough to be scooped and eaten, kind of like a sorbet.
If you’re sick and tired of Singapore’s hot and humid weather (admin sure is), you can even order a mix of frozen custard and ices for that ultra-cooling experience.

They also offer savoury American classics — cooked to order on a hot griddle, of course.
One of the owners, Chef Erin, is from Philadelphia, so you already know that the famous Philly Cheesesteak (S$16) is on the menu. I’d probably head down just for the generous serving of hand-shaven beef ribeye slices.

My mouth is watering just looking at their New York Cheeseburger (S$15). Fun fact: Their beef patties are handmade from freshly ground beef.

You can also upgrade your ala carte burgers to a set meal with fries and soda for an additional S$5 (honestly, such a steal).

If Joo Chiat is out of the way for you, they’re also available on GrabFood and FoodPanda. But the area has so many other thrifting and eating spots, that you might as well head down for a visit.
So, will you be heading down to try Singapore’s first American-style frozen custard and ices?
