Alright, all you Lord of the Rings (LOTR) fans are in for a treat with this one!
What if I told you that you don’t have to go to New Zealand to explore The Shire but instead, just simply head over to Malaysia for that experience?
If you have heard of the homestay Humble Hobbit Home in Sabah, the concept of Hobbitoon Village will be slightly different but with similar aesthetics!
Hobbitoon Village has recently opened its doors on 1 January 2024 and yes, it is a Hobbit-themed attraction that lets you explore where the Shire-folk live.
Only 30 minutes drive from Cameron Highlands and Simpang Pulai respectively, Hobbitoon Village is surrounded by a plateau of mountains, a perfect epitome of the setting for Middle Earth.
You’ll actually get to experience the true magic of the green expanse hills and valleys, with adorable Shire houses in the signature colours of yellow and red that the Shire-folk enjoy. Don’t forget to stop by and take pictures with those cute rustic doors!
Speaking of the Shire houses, you cannot imagine how picturesque some of them look, especially with pretty hanging flower pots.
While you’re there, don’t miss out on catching the pretty rock chimneys sticking out of the inclined roofs as well as cute tree stumps that you can sit on outside these Shire houses.
Honestly, if the place already looks so good in the pictures, I can only imagine how majestic the whole village will look in person.
Given the expanse of this place, you can definitely take your time to recce the whole of Hobbitoon Village and immerse yourself into what else they have to offer.
One of the houses even has a pond with a boat that you are able to climb aboard on for more immersive pictures. If you are bringing the little ones, they are sure to delight in being able to play with the nautical wheel!
There is also a cafe and a souvenir shop within the premises of the Hobbitoon Village so if you’re feeling peckish, don’t forget to stop by for refreshments after your adventure.
And for those wondering, tickets to Hobbitoon Village are priced at SGD11.45 (RM40) for adults and SGD5.72 (RM20) for kids. Not too bad, right?
