Need an extra dose of sugar (or even better, honey) to sweeten up your day? Here’s another dessert chain from Johor Bahru, Malaysia that has flown its way to our shores — Honeybee.
Despite having over 20 outlets across the causeway, this is the Muslim-owned dessert cafe’s first foray into Singapore, and they’ve gone all out by opening two outlets — a dine-in cafe along Haji Lane and a takeaway kiosk in Capitol Piazza.
You can choose from an extensive selection of halal desserts and beverages, mainly ice cream parfaits, frappes, milk tea, and fruity yogurt-based drinks.
The bestselling Golden Honeybee (S$8.50) comprises creamy soft serve layered with cornflakes and honey pearls, before being topped by its crowning glory — a chunk of fresh honeycomb. The ice cream itself tastes like a cross between regular ice cream (think a vanilla cone from Mcdonald’s) and yogurt, but it definitely falls on the sweeter side.
It’s a similar concept to that of the now-defunct Honey Creme (remember those iconic cups of soft serve topped with honeycomb and cotton candy?), but with way more generous portion sizes.
Each chunk is carved from a massive yet oddly mesmerising slab of natural honeycomb, so you know you’re getting the good stuff.
Other popular alternatives include Matcha Tea (S$6.50), Honey Caramel Popcorn Frappe (S$7.50), and the indulgent Volcano Oreo (S$7.90), an ice cream parfait loaded with lots of chocolate.
Don’t forget to pick up a tub or packet of honey caramel-flavoured Popcorn for your snacking pleasure before you leave!
Don’t worry and bee happy, my honey — why not treat yourself to something sweet?
