Have a festive afternoon tea set in a garden at Flower Dome’s gorgeous cafe

by Vera

The Marina Bay area is a particularly exciting precinct to be at this Christmas — the annual Christmas Wonderland makes its comeback, and so does the Flower Dome’s Poinsettia Wishes display. Now, you can add one more thing to the Flower Dome itinerary because Hortus, a Mediterranean-themed café inside the Flower Dome itself, is serving afternoon tea sets specially curated for Christmas.

Happening during 3pm to 5pm from Wednesdays to Sundays, the afternoon tea goes at S$55 per diner, and comprises a combination of sweet and savoury canapés. There’s also an option of going for a vegetarian iteration of the set, though the sweet segment of the menu remains the same.

Here’s a look at the menu offerings:

  • Turkey ham, gruyere cheese and cranberry chutney
  • Smoked salmon cucumber sandwich
  • Gougère
  • Buttered leek quiche
  • Confit tomato tart

  • Macaron with ginger bread butter cream
  • Chocolate and peppermint choux
  • Quince and frangipane mont blanc
  • Iced vovo
  • Pumpkin pie, cream cheese frosting

Devonshire scones:

  • Homemade scones with clotted cream & strawberry jam

In addition to the bites mentioned above, you will also be served a selection of tea and coffee, albeit one beverage at a time.

Reservations at Hortus are also inclusive of access to the Flower Dome (which typically costs S$12 for a Singaporean citizen), as well as a complimentary buggy service from the Gardens by the Bay entrance so that you can show up in style.

The festive set runs from now until 30 December 2021, but even after Christmas is long gone, you can still enjoy garden dining right here at Hortus anytime of the year.
