11 K-Pop artists that have yet to tour or perform in Singapore

by Glenda Chong

As a touring hotspot for legendary global musical acts, Singapore has been blessed with its fair share of the biggest K-Pop artists.

However, even with a packed concert calendar, there are still some K-Pop names that have yet to stop here for world tours or even set foot on our shores.

So, in the name of manifestation (and maybe some passive-aggressive nudging to tour managers), here are 11 K-Pop artists we desperately beg to visit Singapore for a show or two.

K-Pop artists that need to come to Singapore

ILLIT

Having just celebrated their first debut anniversary a couple of months ago, we’ll cut monster rookies ILLIT some slack.

If you don’t already know about this fifth-generation girl group (are you living under a rock?), ILLIT is a five-member multinational girl group formed through a reality survival program.

The group’s biggest hits include Magnetic, Cherish (My Love), and Tick-Tack. Yes, these are the same songs that have flooded your TikTok feeds with their addictive dance challenges and hooks.

It seems there’s no stopping the group from quickly ruling the charts despite their short discography, so let’s hope there’s also no stopping them from adding Singapore to their first world tour.

BTOB

Going a little further back in the K-Pop archives (please don’t tell me I’m the only one who remembers these kings), we’ve got third-generation stars BTOB

The group has enjoyed great success in their impressive 13-year career (that’s still going). However, much to my surprise, they have yet to put Singapore on their radar when it comes to tours, special concerts, and fan meetings.

BTOB is known for both their vocal prowess and comedic antics, and with hits like Missing You, Pray (I’ll Be Your Man), and MOVIE, the sextet will surely WOW us should they ever stop by our sunny island.

Yves

This is more so admin’s personal plea, but we’re sure there are many LOONA fans (or Orbits, as they are officially called) who highly anticipate a world tour from this talented artist.

Of the 12 members, Yves embarked on her solo career last year after the group was unfortunately put on indefinite hiatus.

Whether you’re in the LOOP or not, you may recognise one of her b-sides, DIM, due to its recent virality as a TikTok audio trend.

Yves is on her APPLE CINNAMON CRUNCH tour in only America and Europe, but fingers crossed that she’ll bring her performances to Singapore too!

Billlie

The first and last time the seven-member girl group Billlie paid Singapore a visit was three years ago for a fan signing event and YouTube Fan Fest.

With soon-to-be four years under their belt, the talented group first went viral for member Tsuki’s iconic stage presence when performing their biggest song, GingaMingaYo (what a strange world)

Since then, Billlie has continued to wow fans with their strong performances on their first world tour, Our FLOWERLD (Belllie’ve You).

Aside from their magnum opus GingaMingaYo (what a strange world), the group explores diverse genres such as nu jazz, city pop, rock, and more with a mysterious and complicated storyline to boot.

You can hear their versatility in tracks including but not limited to various and precious (moment of inertia), RING ma Bell (what a wonderful world), and enchanted night ~ white night.

ASTRO

Another equally surprising mention on this list has to be ASTRO.

Just like BTOB, the boy group has had quite a career, going strong for close to ten years as a group.

From Blue Flame to Candy Sugar Pop and more, their biggest songs show ASTRO’s seamless adaptability to both mature and bright, youthful sounds and concepts.

The group first performed here for their first showcase years ago, but have not included Singapore in their tours before.

The good news is that the members recently returned for a special concert for the first time in three years. So it’s hopefully not wishful thinking that they will conduct a world tour again.

tripleS

It’s not uncommon for K-Pop groups to come in big numbers, but you truly can’t grasp the scale until you meet the 24-member girl group tripleS.

With the lofty goal of being the world’s first decentralised idol group, the members rotate between the full group and sub-units, all voted for by fans.

This has resulted in the birth of unique sub-units such as Visionary Vision and LOVElution, as well as versatile tracks including the anthemic Girls Never Die, hip-hop-laced Hit The Floor, and so on.

WOODZ

If there’s one artist I’ve unabashedly sung my heart out to in the shower, it has to be soloist WOODZ.

If the name doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps his song, Drowning, will. Dubbed as a “reverse chart topper”, it went viral two years after its release due to WOODZ’s explosive live vocals.

The soloist is still undergoing military service. Thankfully, his discharge is set for this July, so we’re yearning to hear his powerful singing in Singapore for the first time soon.

While we’re WAITING, check out his other popular tracks, including Love Me Harder and DIFFERENT. According to WOODZ himself, he incorporates musical elements including alternative R&B, dream pop, and so on.

fromis_9

Many girl groups have stolen South Korea’s heart, but none quite like fromis_9.

Making their debut in 2018, the group has sadly dwindled from nine to five members last year.

Still, it’s impressive that the group has successfully kept their name and is continuing activities after departing from their previous company, K-Pop titan HYBE.

The five-piece is embarking on their first-ever world tour this year, kicking things off in their home base before possibly expanding to the rest of the globe.

So if you’re unfamiliar with their music, now’s the time to learn and gear up for possible shows here. fromis_9 is best known for being “summer queens”, producing refreshing, chart-topping songs like DM, Supersonic, and more.

Crush

Few K-Pop artists can say they’ve mastered the art of making popular K-drama OSTs like soloist Crush.

Yet, Crush also effortlessly blends R&B, hip-hop, and pop in his own works such as Rush Hour and Click Like.

Yes, this is the same artist behind the globally renowned track Beautiful for the popular K-drama Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.

Much to fans’ dismay, his first performance in Singapore via the UGH! Singapore concert was cancelled. Regardless, as we wait for him to announce possible shows, you can discover his distinct discography.

YENA

When it comes to bringing fun to K-Pop, you can count on soloist YENA to do the job.

YENA may have only debuted solo three years ago, but her career has been on a high.

Debuting with the infectious, bubbly SMILEY after leaving the temporary K-pop girl group IZ*ONE, she has continued her bright musical persona in tracks including NEMONEMO and SMARTPHONE.

Hopefully, she’ll embark on her first solo tour with Singapore included in the list.

MONSTA X

Third-generation boy group MONSTA X has touched down on our soil for performances before, but sadly, not for their world tours.

The band combines hip-hop, EDM, and pop, which has birthed their well-known aggressive music style. Feel the heat of their unique sound in tracks such as Shoot Out, HERO, and Follow.
