You’re probably reading this article at home while slouching on your bed or chair. With Phase 2’s restrictions, dining out is no longer an option and WFH is mandatory. With nowhere else to go, most of us are simply rotting at home, and even a simple grocery run is starting to sound fun.
If being at home 24/7 is driving you insane, perhaps, a quick trip to Kommune by 82Soho will make this period a little more bearable. Hidden at Orchard Central, this game cafe offers you a private gaming pod for two pax, so you can travel out within the restrictions, and in safety.

There are a variety of private gaming pods to choose from — some are equipped with cushy beanbag chairs and coffee tables, while others come decked with high-tech wide-screen monitors and ergonomic mice and chairs.
Whether you’re looking to thrash it all out on Dota 2 or simply enjoy a chill board game sesh, Kommune by 82Soho has it all.
Kommune by 82Soho offers over 60 titles of board games, including familiar favourites such as Monopoly, Giant Jenga and Scrabble. But for those that require adrenaline-pumping simulation, you can book their Playstation 5 pods. There are 11 single-player games and 19 two-player games, including Resident Evil Village — the newest horror-packed adventure.
For those that are unproductive at home, you can also book a work/study lounge for a change of environment. Free Wi-Fi and charging points are provided, so there’s no need to waste your precious mobile data. Just make sure that you don’t fall asleep!
The snack pantry and karaoke facilities at Kommune by 82Soho are unavailable for now, but once the restrictions are lifted, they will be made available upon the government’s approval. Since our beloved Manekineko KTV Studio has closed its doors, this will be the perfect alternative.
Kommune by 82Soho may sound like a dream come true, but that doesn’t mean that it’s expensive. Rates are kept at an affordable price of S$10/pax for 2 hours on Mondays to Thursdays, and S$12/pax on Fridays to Sundays.
Each room is thoroughly sanitised before usage, and enclosed to only those that have made a booking. For extra precaution, the rooms are also equipped with UV fan sterilisers.
Since we’re only allowed to go out in pairs, Kommune by 82Soho makes a great date and catch up spot during Phase 2.
