12 places that are open till late evening for a weeknight date

by Natalie Lim

Let’s face it, there’s a tremendous amount of articles on date ideas out there. But with hectic Singaporean lives, weekends are usually spent lazing at home and weeknights leave the average couple settling for a simple meal instead.

But our mamas taught us to be reachers, not settlers, and even a long-term relationship needs a little spunk now and then. If bb has been complaining of dates becoming routine, here’s a list of places open till the late evening that you can surprise her with.

Places for late evening dates after 8pm

Go retro roller skating at Hi-Roller

Roller discos started as a fad in the 1970s but eventually became a dating hotspot for people in the 1980s. With bright lights, pump-up music and floorspace to flaunt your skating skills, it’s not hard to see why the place is befitting for dates.

At Hi Roller Indoor Skating Rink, there’s no need to worry even if you’re new to the sport. The rink offers quad skates, skates with four wheels in a two-by-two configuration, providing more stability.

For boyfriends of Instagram, there are also photo op areas that feature neon-lit angel wings as a backdrop. Even if your girlfriend has the temper of a devil, a good picture to post on IG will definitely appease her.

With over-the-top cocktails and two entire storeys of mini-courses to conquer, it will be a night you’ll never fore-get.

Don Don Donki’s jingle is an earworm, but one thing that you wouldn’t want stuck in your head is her nagging when she realizes that the fridge is empty.

Since the Japanese supermart at Orchard Central is opened 24/7 and sells everything, it’ll be a fun trip down to grab any commodities you may lack.

Relieve work stress with spas, massages and a buffet at g.spa

Unfortunately, not all of us possess enough energy for fun-filled activities at the end of the day. Instead of heading straight to bed, g.spa is a better alternative that will rejuvenate your tired bones and leave you feeling refreshed.

With hot and cold pools, saunas, massages and a relaxation lounge, the experience will supplement better than a power nap. Plus, the facilities are open 24/7, so you can relax for however long you need.

Crash Coffeemin, a co-working space with games, pool tables and snacks

Photo: Coffeemin

Some of our partners are workaholics and just can’t get off their laptops, so instead of cooping yourselves at home, perhaps a change of environment would up their work efficiency — or distract them enough to spend a few minutes of quality time with you.

Photo: Coffeemin

At Coffeemin, you’re provided with a co-working space with free-flow snacks and drinks. To avoid being chased out of cafes and coffee houses, opt to finish your work here instead. While waiting, your other half can enjoy themselves with video games or, compete with strangers over board games and pool.
