While many VTLs have popped up over the last few weeks, including one to KL, we’re still missing one of the most popular cheap food spots — JB. It’s going to be a bit longer before we can indulge in our favourite cheap and sinful sticks of oily goodness but Lok Me Up at Toa Payoh offers a great alternative right here in Singapore, with lok lok options at just S$0.60 per stick.
Not only do they have some of the cheapest lok lok in Singapore but they also provide you with unlimited nacho cheese sauce for you to bathe all your stuff in glorious, sinful cheese.
It’s a bargain for any lok lok lover, with more than 40 choices available at Lok Me Up and more than half of it priced at only S$0.60, while the rest still priced affordably at S$1.20. Plus they are open late until 3 am, so those living near Toa Payoh can pop by for an indulgent supper anytime for that late Friday night lok lok cravings.
You can expect the most classic skewers such as Zai Er, Crab Stick, Quail Egg, Meatball, Cheese Tofu, Seaweed Chicken, and Bacon Enoki all fried fresh upon order and doused in their special seasoning.
The dizzying variety aside, the most important thing for lok lok is definitely the sauce and Lok Me Up not only has free-flow nacho cheese to jazz up your sticks but there’s also their secret chilli sauce for those who need a bit of heat to enjoy their lok lok.
That said, some of us rather not go out to eat especially during this pandemic — so if you prefer to have your value-for-money lok lok meal at home, you can also find Lok Me Up on delivery platforms such as GrabFood and foodpanda.
Of course, the prices will be slightly more expensive on delivery platforms but you get to dine in the comfort and safety of your home. Plus, it’s still probably one of the cheapest options you can find around!
