After finally bringing back the Spicy McNuggets and introducing creations like the Korean-inspired Honey Butter McShaker Fries and Hash Brown Oreo McFlurry (both of which received mixed reviews), McDonald’s Singapore has done it again, by putting a spin on one of the chain’s most beloved menu items — the McSpicy. I mean, just ask anyone what their favourite menu item is, and you’ll probably get “McSpicy” as the answer.
Enter the limited-edition Sweet BBQ McSpicy, a sweeter and smokier version of the cult favourite fried chicken sandwich available at all stores islandwide from 28 June onwards, while stocks last.
Think the usual McSpicy, with its irresistible spicy and juicy fried chicken thigh, but with the addition of chicken bacon slices and sweet BBQ sauce — sounds delicious! We’re also curious to find out if the sauce tastes the same as the BBQ sauce typically paired with nuggets.
The last time McDonald’s switched up the McSpicy was in 2019 with the McSpicy® Deluxe, which featured white cheddar cheese, tomato slices, and tomato jalapeno relish on cornmeal-dusted buns, so this is a lot less complicated.
The Sweet BBQ McSpicy is priced from S$8.10 for a la carte and S$9.20 for an Extra Value Meal, and unfortunately is only available in the single patty version, so you’ll need to purchase two if you want to chow down on a Sweet BBQ Double McSpicy.
Pair your McSpicy with the new Cocoa-nut Pie (from S$1.70), that’s essentially a chocolate coconut pie with a creamy filling. Who knows? It might just become your new favourite McDonald’s pie.
Once again, you have quite some time to get your hands on these. However, the end date for both items may vary according to location, so do check with your nearest McDonald’s outlet to avoid disappointment — and as with most new launches, be prepared to queue!
