Having just watched a video of a guy trying 16 philly cheesesteaks in 12 hours, it’s safe to say that my cravings for the iconic street sandwich from Philadelphia are at an all-time high.
I may not be able to travel to the US right now, but I can definitely make a trip to halal sandwich speciality joint MeatMyMeat along Arab Street.
You may have seen the team behind this Muslim-owned takeaway kiosk (their flagship outlet) at night markets and bazaars around the island. Who knows? You may have even already tasted “Singapore’s best philly cheesesteak” — and loved it.
Bestsellers include the signature Philly Cheesesteak (S$9.90) and Mozza Philly Cheesesteak (S$10.90), each comprising thinly sliced beef steak, lettuce, and generous lashings of cheese, cheese, and more cheese.
Get a combo menu for an additional S$6.90 and enjoy your cheesesteak with a side of tortilla chips and any Fusion Soda with Lychee (S$5), which come in fun, fruity flavours like Marina Mandarin and Blackcurrant Slide.
You can also find hearty hotdogs like the classic Nacho Hotdog (S$6.90), Mentaiko Hotdog (S$7.90), and even a Spicy Korean Hotdog (S$6.90).
For a more substantial meal, pair your sandwiches with loaded tortilla chips, such as the Cheesesteak Tortilla Chips (S$9.90), prepared loaded nacho-style, or the more subdued Tortilla Chips with Chilli Mayo (S$6.90). Either way, you’re in for a cheesy good time.
MeatMyMeat only opens at 3pm, so feel free to pop by for a midday snack or decadent dinner treat. Even better, why not order in (via major delivery platforms) and make the most out of movie night?
PS. if you’ve also got serious cravings for bagelwiches and/or grilled cheeses, here are two fellow Muslim-owned sandwich joints to check out!
