Popular minimalist cafe SYIP opens second outlet in Bendemeer serving mentaiko rosti, matcha tiramisu & more

If you’ve visited this popular cafe’s first outlet in Farrer Park, and loved it (the queues are perpetually long), you’re in luck. Here’s yet another new cafe to check out over the weekend — SYIP and its stunning second outlet in Bendemeer.

The cafe occupies a stunning and incredibly spacious unit at Luzerne Building, decked out with the same clean, industrial, and minimalist aesthetic SYIP has become synonymous with.

From the soothing touches of greenery to the innovative private booth seats, each and every corner of the sprawling space has been thoughtfully designed to ensure a comfortable dining experience.

There are also high ceilings and full-length windows (hooray for natural light), so you know all those photos and videos you take will turn out great.

The menu, featuring brunch, mains, sides, and sweets, has also doubled in size, as compared to the Farrer Park outlet.

We hear the deceptively simple-looking Breakfast Tart (S$21), which encompasses puff pastry adorned with bacon, mushrooms, leek, scrambled eggs, and a luscious ikura caviar beurre blanc, is a must-try.

Another unique offering is the Octopus Mentaiko Rosti (S$23), rosti topped with charred octopus, mentaiko mayo, ikura, and bonito flakes, reminiscent of Japanese okonomiyaki.

If you’re hankering for something more substantial, take your pick from mains like the Tiger Prawn Squid Ink Linguine (S$22), Chicken Confit on Pumpkin Puree (S$18), and the Mentaiko Shrimp Burger (S$20).

Make it a full-course meal with sides like Grilled Mexican Corn (S$11) and Shimeiji Mushroom Fritters with Yuzu Brown Butter Dip (S$12).

SYIP has made a name for itself with its tiramisu (did you know that the owners used to run Soft Peaks Bakery, an online bakery specialising in the iconic Italian dessert?), a staple on the dessert menu.

The OG Kahlua Tiramisu (S$12) is joined by new offerings like the Matcha Tiramisu (S$12), Kaya Butter French Toast (S$17), and Black Sesame Croffle (S$15), a freshly baked croffle topped with vanilla soft serve and black sesame cream.

In typical SYIP fashion, the extensive drinks menu boasts an enticing selection of coffee, teas, milk, lemonade, and even kombucha.

Spoilt for choice? Go for the signature Syip Black Coffee (S$6.50) espresso, whipped cream, cocoa powder, and chocolate shavings and or the tea-based Raspberry Cloud (S$7.50), a refreshing yet creamy concoction.

Notable mention goes out to the “Signature Milk” section of the menu, which includes the likes of Black Cocoa (from S$6), Pistachio (from S$6.50), and Black Sesame (from S$6.50).

It’s time to take it easy, have a syip of coffee, and just relax.
