It seems like it was just a couple of months ago that everyone was scrambling to Jurong Point to try the viral Mister Donut bakery’s yummy doughnuts — and many were met with excruciatingly long queues because the pop-up was only going to be there for a limited time.
But don’t worry — now, you no longer have to wait four hours just for a taste of this famous donut shop’s doughy goodness as they’re finally opening a permanent store in Singapore!
Also, did you know? Despite the common misconception, Mister Donut was originally founded in the United States instead of Japan! However, it was made massively popular by Japan because of the adorable themed doughnuts and merchandise that they push out with the likes of Pokemon and Hello Kitty’s companies. Here’s another little fun fact for you — one of the founders of this highly-raved donut bakery is actually the brother-in-law of Dunkin’ Donuts!
The Singapore outlet will be located at Junction 8 in Bishan, and while the official menu and prices haven’t been released yet, you can probably expect some of the hot favourites like their best-selling chewy, moist and highly-addictive Pon de Ring (mochi) doughnuts that come in an assortment of flavours. The prices will also probably be similar to the ones at the pop-up, ranging around S$2.50 a piece.
Who knows — maybe we can even expect to see exclusive local-inspired flavours since the store is going to be permanently taking root here. How do durian, kaya, or even mala-flavoured mochi doughnuts sound?
The exact date for the grand opening of the renowned doughnut shop hasn’t been released yet, but I already have an inkling that it’s going to be flooding my TikTok and Instagram feed thanks to the central location and popularity of the pop-up from last July.
