Okay, I may not be the biggest Pokémon fan out there but there’s no denying just how insanely popular it is. Beyond the usual merchandise, Pokémon has made its mark on everything from toolboxes and tech gadgets to even full-blown cars (the Pikabug, anyone?).
As such, it should come as no surprise that the Japanese arcade game — Pokémon Ga-Olé — has gained a loyal following all around the world. Singapore isn’t excluded.

If you’re a Pokémon noob like me and need a quick rundown of the game, I’ve got you covered. After a little research, here’s the scoop on Pokémon Ga-Olé: it’s pretty straightforward.
Players scan their collectible disks to summon Pokémon for battles, and if you play well, you can earn new disks featuring different Pokémon to add to your collection (simple, right?). You’ll eventually amass a huge collection of Pokémon disks, which I’m sure the limited-edition ones can be used for bragging rights.

Thanks to the game’s popularity, EVO Amusement has launched their third — and largest — Pokémon Ga-Olé Station at Suntec City, following successful setups at Changi Airport Terminal 3 and Fairprice Xtra Parkway Parade.
I get it, Suntec City is a notoriously confusing mall to navigate but trust me when I say you won’t miss this space. Head up to the third floor between Tower Two and Three, and you’ll instantly see a large Snorlax snoozing face up.

Say hello to Singapore’s biggest Snorlax, standing at a whopping two metres tall and two metres wide! This chubby, teddy bear-like creature is accompanied by Pikachu and is just begging for a photo opportunity. As such, don’t be shy and snap away!
Back in the day, it wasn’t unusual for players to queue up due to the limited number of machines. But not anymore — this space now boasts 12 stations, plenty to keep the action rolling.

For all you Pokémon Ga-Olé fanatics, you’ll be glad to know that in-store tournaments will be held from time to time. Yes, there are prizes to be worn, like limited-edition disks, but more importantly, you’ll get to make friends with other enthusiasts.

You’ll take part in special battles, compete for top honours, and potentially win the title of ‘Pokémon Ga-Olé champion’ (yes, such a title exists).
Do note that it costs S$2 per game.

However, regular folks like myself are content with the retail shop that’s filled with all sorts of Pokémon-themed merchandise. There are stuffed toys of the famous Poké Ball, a wide range of Nintendo games, gaming accessories, and many more.

If your schedule allows, come on down this weekend till 6 October 2024. You’ll snag a free special Ga-Olé ‘Zapdos’ Disk, and kids under 12 get even more goodies — a Pokémon Ga-Olé type chart and an exclusive Pikachu sun visor to top it off!
