How many of you spent your childhood playing games like block catching or even the floor is lava?

There’s a gaming studio in Singapore that lets you relive your childhood favourite with an added twist that will certainly challenge you in more ways than one — we’re not kidding about this.

Lava Floor is located in HarbourFront Centre, and offers a very thrilling and challenging game of The Floor is Lava.

Unlike how the game is typically played, the one offered here comes with a little twist. The goal of this game is to tap all the blue squares and avoid the red ones which represent the lava. Sounds pretty simple right?

Well, yes and no. While the objective of the game is fairly simple, it is the execution that really matters. Let’s just say, as the game progresses, more physical activity like running, jumping, and stretching will be involved.

Did we mention that there’s also a timer put in place? As if all that physical activity wasn’t bad enough, now you’re also racing against the clock.

Oh and did we mention that there’s a total of 99 levels for you to conquer? Good luck to you and if you do conquer all 99 levels (I could never), you definitely deserve all the bragging rights. The game is best for two to eight players, aged six and up — perfect for both families and friends.

Apart from playing The Floor Is Lava, the game centre also has a VR arcade where you can try your hand at some immersive VR games and challenges.

There’s even an escape room in-house for you to put your wits, critical thinking, and speed to the test!

Price-wise, each 20-minute session costs S$13 per person on weekdays and S$17 per person on weekends. If you book two sessions back to back, you can get an extra 10 minutes for free, which means you’ll get to play for a total of 50 minutes instead of 40 — not bad right?

If you’re looking to burn some calories while having fun, you know where to head to!

What was your favourite childhood game growing up?
