POV: It’s February, but you haven’t started on your new years’ resolution to exercise more. Well, this is your sign to explore the newly opened Rail Corridor (North)

We now have more than 21km of continuous North-South connectivity from Kranji MRT all the way to Spooner Road (nearest MRT: Outram Park). You’ll be able to access the corridor at over 30 points with 23 of them being barrier-free for wheelchair or stroller access, so it’s really convenient to get to as well.

North-siders, you’ll be delighted to know that the new Kranji node has a nature trail that’s connected to a 2000 sqm field for future community events (who says there’s nothing to do in Singapore?).

The Rail Corridor will also be connected to both Rifle Range Nature Park, with a new entry point at Holland Green Linear Park, and the upcoming Clementi Nature Corridor (comprising 18km of trails!).

Other highlights include a swanky new bridge over Hillview Road — it even has tracks embedded into its flooring as a nod to the original bridge’s function as a crossing for the former KTM Railway.

The bridge even leads to a 6m-high lookout deck that boasts scenic views of Dairy Farm Nature Park and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. You’ll also be able to see Rail Mall from there!

Feeling peckish from the long hike after seeing all the delectable eateries Rail Mall has to offer? Here’s yet another piece of good news — the existing pedestrian overhead bridge has been extended, so you’ll actually have a direct connection to the charming strip mall. Whether you’re craving fried chicken, wagyu beef, or prata, there’s defo something for you.

As if this isn’t already exciting enough, the Buona Vista node along the Rail Corridor is expected to open by end-2023, which is slated to include spaces for sports, community and cultural events. Plus, Tanjong Pagar Railway Station is also due to reopen after 2026!
