We all know how being around animals can really lift our spirits and provide us the comfort that some humans can’t give us. Horses are some of the best emotional support companions out there, so if you wanna experience what an animal therapy session with a pony feels like, now’s your chance!
Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) is organising an Open House Charity Carnival where you get to interact with the horses and ponies, ride on a tractor and more. Taking place on 18 June 2023 at RDA Centre near Caldecott MRT, the carnival will also have a stable tour, pony feeding sessions, F&B stalls and more.
If you’re wondering how working with horses can help someone with disabilities, you’ll be able to get your questions answered at the carnival where you’ll be exposed to the unique programmes with horses available here. One thing’s for sure is that there’ll definitely be plenty of horsing around here as you’ll also get to meet the therapy horses and ponies like Freda, Rhino, Jimmy and many others.
Apart from meeting them, you could even get a chance to hop on for a short ride. The pony rides are for those aged three and older and under 60kg. For those of us who don’t qualify for the pony ride, you can always go for the pony feeding where you get to get up close and personal with the adorable ponies.
There are also tractor rides for kids which I’m sure your little ones will surely enjoy. You can put your artistic skills to the test at the horseshoe decorating booth, before checking out the other carnival booths. When you get hungry, simply head over to the food stalls available for some good carnival grub.
Since this is a charity carnival, all proceeds from the activities and stalls will go towards maintaining RDA facilities, running unique programmes with horses for persons with disabilities, and care for the horses. The carnival is also pet-friendly so you can bring your furkids along to join in the fun too! Just make sure you take care of your furkid and make sure they don’t run wild.
