If you’re in the mood for some delectable bakes, Rosemead Bakery by modern Californian restaurant Rosemead has a Signature Box that will have you in for a treat. Priced at S$38, the box contains five unique pastries, all handcrafted by talented pastry chef Elena Perez de Carrasco and baked fresh each morning.
Look forward to the Shokupan with Red Apple-kombu Glaze and Butter, the bakery’s signature soft and fluffy milk bread with a special red apple-kombu glaze. Made with three types of apples, the glaze is infused with kombu seaweed and finished on the hearth for an extra smoky aroma.
If you’re a fan of flaky pastries, the box also includes croissants in two different flavours — tiramisu, and meyer lemon. Coffee-lovers will enjoy the Tiramisu Croissant, which is filled with smooth mascarpone, laminated in cultured butter, and finished off with a fermented coffee glaze.
Meanwhile, the pastry I was most excited to see was the Meyer Lemon Croissant, which is filled with a refreshing meyer lemon curd, and drizzled with a light lemon zest glaze.
If you prefer your pastries savoury, the Sobrassada Babka is a unique must-try. Take a bite, and you’ll find brioche bread laminated with spicy Spanish sobrassada (cured sausage) and spices, resulting in a pastry crust that is soft and flaky. Think of it as a delicious, savoury cross between a brioche and a croissant.
And rounding off the pastry selection is a chewy Marshmallow and Peanut Butter Cookie, topped with a thick layer of vanilla-bourbon marshmallow and brightened with fresh lime zest.
To place an order, keep a lookout on their website on Wednesdays at 1pm, where they’ll release slots for the following three weeks. Deliveries will be made on Saturdays from 12.30pm to 4pm, with islandwide free delivery available for orders above S$80 — though you can also opt to pick up the box yourself at their restaurant.
