Ever wondered what it’s like to be part of the famous F1 night race at the Singapore Grand Prix? For most of us, that will remain an impossible dream, but it’s okay. We can still experience some of that racing adrenaline at RUD Karting, a go-kart place in Johor Bahru that’s open till late-night for some nighttime racing.
Don’t worry if you have no driving or racing experience — the Basic Kart (S$17.20/RM55 for a 10-minute session, S$42.20/RM135 for 3 sessions) is suitable for first-timers, and you won’t need a licence to drive it. Speed down the state-of-the-art professional 840m track at a speed of up to 60km/h, and see how you fare at the 16 challenging turns in the circuit.
If you’re there on a date or visiting with friends, the karting place also has a special 2-seater Twins Cart (S$23.45/RM75 for a 10-minute session) so you can race with your special someone by your side. The kart has two steering wheels so both parties get to steer, and can travel at up to 55km/h.
For karting pros, the karting place also has more advanced carts such as the B Super Stage Kart and the Advance+ Kart for you to race at top speed.
The huge space also has its own in-house cafe, The RUD Cafe and Bistro, where you can grab a bite if you’re feeling hungry after all that racing. Dine on unique dishes such as Frittata Swordfish Pasta (S$10/RM31.90) and Grapefruit Nasi Goreng with Freshwater Prawn (S$13.40/RM42.90) in the cosy cafe as you watch the karts race through the circuit.
Open till 2am every day, RUD Karting is located just 20 minutes from the Tuas checkpoint, making it a great and fairly convenient place for both go-kart racing and a delicious meal.
