Making weekend plans? Switch up your usual haunts with this free sailing experience that will take you across the bay. If you’ve never sailed before, like me, or want a fun date idea, this one’s for you.
All you have to do is book a slot, fill in the indemnity form, and you’re all set for your sailing trip. Slots open in advance on the 3rd Monday of each month and fill up pretty fast, so if you’re considering this, you’ll need to pre-book it.
The hour-long experience is located at Marina Bay, and hosted by DBS, where you’ll see signature landmarks like the petal-shaped Art-Science Museum, and the domed Apple Store. Specifically, you’ll meet the sailboat skipper at the Pontoon beside Customs House for a safety briefing before you set off.
Experience a tour of the bay in a whole different way, as your guide will point out the various landmarks as the sailboat begins to speed up. When the boat is far enough from the pontoon, you’ll get the chance to be a captain for a few minutes and take the wheel.
The best time to book a slot is at 4.40pm, where you’ll get to sail and catch the sunset at the same time! You can, literally, sail off into the sunset like in those movie endings with your significant other, or friends.
Don’t worry about steering the ship, as the experience is fully guided, and the skipper will show you the ropes. You won’t even notice the time’s up as the sailboat returns to the pontoon, and you disembark. So, what are you waiting for?
