We’ve been seeing a lot of outdoor movie events in Singapore lately and here to hop on the bandwagon is Sentosa’s Movie By The Beach. Better yet, it’s completely free and there are no bookings required.
Located at Southside near Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, the Movie By The Beach event is set against a lovely backdrop — with Singapore’s vibrant skies (especially in the evenings!), mellow waves, and lights from the Reflections at Keppel Bay’s buildings. Talk about setting the mood!
The movies are also thoughtfully picked out — they’re appropriate for all ages to cater to people from all walks of life. Tonight’s movie is going to be Pitch Perfect (2012) starring Anna Kendrick, so if you’re into musicals, acapella or just a light-hearted laugh, be sure to head down tonight.
The other upcoming movies include titles like The Mummy (1999), Cars (2006), Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006) and more.
You can bring your own picnic mats and chairs to the beach cinema, but make sure that they don’t exceed the size restrictions (gotta stay considerate of others!). Foldable chairs cannot be bigger than 0.45m x 0.45m x 0.45m, and mats cannot be larger than 1.5m x 1.5m. There also seem to be some tables and chairs inside beautifully lit domes at the beachside cinema, but because it’s on a first come first serve basis, it’s probably better to have a backup plan!
Unfortunately, outside food and drinks aren’t allowed at the Movies By The Beach event, but don’t worry because there will be yummy bites and drinks available there. What’s a movie experience without snacks and sodas, right?
Do note though, while bookings are not required, the beach cinema only has a capacity for 400 people, so get there earlier if you want to secure a good spot.
This complimentary outdoor movie series by the beach will run from now till 23 September, and will take place twice a month on alternate Fridays. The movies begin at 7.30pm every screening with the next screening happening tonight (15 July).
Movies under the stars and maybe a nice stroll along the beach after — sounds like a great way to kick off the weekends!
