There’s always an occasion to indulge in a sweet, icy treat. If unique ice cream and gelato offerings are right up your alley, look no further than SWIRLGO, a pop-up kiosk in Somerset.

This pop-up was quietly launched in collaboration with East Eight, a sneaker x tea concept store in Orchardgateway (you may have seen signs advertising its All Day S$2 bubble tea offerings around the area).

The tech-driven F&B start-up specialises in Chunky SWIRLS, “chunky” soft serve with fun mix-ins ranging from sweet to savoury, and crunchy to doughy.

Being able to concoct the ice cream cone or sundae of your dreams is that easy, especially when you have a Build-Your-Swirl DIY menu to refer from.

The three-step process is simple — start off by deciding on your Swirl Base of either gelato or froyo, with options like Vanilla Gelato, Salted Caramel Gelato (+S$1), and Honey Frozen Yogurt (+S$1).

Next, choose from a selection of Mix-ins (AKA the chunky element) like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Crunchy Peanut Butter, Mocha Beans (+S$1.50), or Toasted Desiccated Coconut, just to name a few, and watch the innovative soft serve ice cream machine work its magic.

Make it extra chunky by topping up for additional mix-ins (S$0.50 each).

Lastly, top your icy creation with a Topping, be it Sea Salt Hazelnut & Chocolate Rasps or Almond Brownie Brittle. If you wish to go all out, additional toppings are priced at S$0.50 each.

Can’t decide? Go for one of the Signature Specials, such as the Salted Caramel Crunch Chunky Swirl (S$7.50), comprising salted caramel gelato with mix-ins of cinnamon toast crunch and speculoos, topped with almond brownie brittle and toasted marshmallow.

If you wish to venture into the world of the wild and wacky, SWIRLGO is also launching a special Lao Gan Ma Chunky Swirl (S$6.50) for those with a more adventurous palate.

That’s right — actual Lao Gan Ma is mixed into vanilla gelato, akin to that of the viral chilli oil ice cream hack, which involves adding chilli oil to vanilla ice cream (simple enough).

Sweet and salty, with a peppery heat that lingers in your throat, this is certainly not a concoction for those with a low spice tolerance.

No end date has been specified at the time of writing, but you can rest assured knowing that the pop-up kiosk will definitely be around for the next few months.

Perhaps we’ll see even more fun flavours and mix-ins beyond our wildest imagination!
