No fret. There’s somewhere else you can go to get up close and personal with your favourite Nintendo characters.

From 2 October 2024 onwards, you want to come down to the new Nintendo Museum in Uji, Kyoto. Uji is a 20 minutes train ride away from Kyoto and is the birthplace of matcha (in case you need another reason to visit this town).

The museum will host a wide array of exhibitions and interactive play experiences, as well as a cafe, and, of course, a gift shop.

How it works for their play experiences is that you’ll need to ‘trade’ digital coins to take part in your desired activity. All visitors will be granted 10 digital coins each but do note that the number of coins varies with each activity.

I can already foresee people queuing for the Big Controller, a gigantic version of Nintendo’s past controllers. You and your friend will have to work together to play their old (and iconic!) games.

For couples, head over to the Love Tester SP to see how in love y’all really are (just kidding).

If you love shooting games, you’ll no doubt run towards the Zapper & Scope SP. Be immersed in Mario’s world as you help take down his enemies, such as Goomba, Boo and Koopa Troopa.

Similar games include Ultra Machine SP as you hit the balls coming at you and Ultra Hand SP, which will test your aiming skills as you’ve to throw the balls into narrow pipes.

Once you find yourself getting tired, make your way to their in-house Hatena Burger cafe, where you can custom order your burger.

Feel free to go crazy with your preferred ingredients and sauces as there are over 270,000 combinations available (yes, they did the math!). Do accompany your burger with special drinks and sides.

Before you leave, stop by the gift shop to get your hands on Nintendo’s official merchandise. Some of them are location-exclusive, so you don’t want to miss those out.

Tickets for October and November admission have already been released, and are priced at S$29.63 (3,300 yen) for adults aged 18 and above. Kids under five enter for free.

However, it seems Nintendo is following in the footsteps of a certain animation studio as tickets are sold through a lottery system. Entries come out three months in advance and if you’re lucky, you’ll receive your ticket drawing through your email address.
