I’m unashamed to admit that I’m a total sucker for Sanrio. Shove Cinnamoroll or Pompompurin to my face and you’ll see my cute aggression coming out.
So, imagine how I acted when I stumbled upon this hidden gem in Clarke Quay Central. Here’s a hint: there were a lot of squeals.

Kai Kai Gifts is literally heaven for all my fellow Sanrio lovers. The shop has anything and everything you can think of when it comes to Sanrio merchandise. Unique stationeries? They got it. Cookware to spice up your kitchen? There are many types to choose from.
While Kai Kai Gifts has remained relatively unknown, even to Sanrio fanatics, their shop itself cannot be missed. With a vibrant pink storefront decked out in sparkles and a window display packed full of Sanrio goodies, they’ll catch your eye immediately as you stroll on the second level.

The first spot you’ll likely be drawn to is the endless rows of plushies, available in a wide range of sizes. From the adventurous frog Keroppi to the main character herself, Hello Kitty, these favourite Sanrio characters come in various costumes and themes.
A vintage Hello Kitty dressed in a kimono is one of the rarest and most sought-after merchandise for any Sanrio collector. Guess which shop has them aplenty?

Just below the row of plushies is a selection of mini backpacks and pouches. I can see little ones carrying the backpacks for school, while adults can tote them for a theme park trip or casual days out.
One can never have too many pouches as they can store all sorts of items, from makeup and beauty products to sewing supplies (so you no longer have to store them in a Danish cookie tin).
Accompany your pouch with a bunch of Sanrio tote bags, which are put on display at the bottom of the shelves, alongside door mats as well.

Other furniture and homeware you can find include clothes hangers, stools, trash cans and ironing board covers, to name a few.

There’s also the iconic Hitachi Hello Kitty television, a rare find that’s nearly impossible to get your hands on anywhere but second-hand marketplaces like eBay and Carousell.
Hate drinking water? Sanrio will make this daily necessity easier for you with their variety of cute af drinkware, from insulated water bottles and mugs to cup and saucer sets.

Of course, dinnerware and cookware are available too. Spruce up your dining table with Sanrio-themed plates, bowls, glass containers, pots and pans. There’s even a Hello Kitty slow cooker because why not?
If you’re a fan of all things beauty and fashion, you cannot leave the store without purchasing one or two beauty products or fashion accessories.

Whether it be the Hello Kitty nail kit, Little Twin Stars eyeshadow palette, Hello Kitty shaver or Kuromi digital watch, these products make grooming and dressing up a little more fun.

Oh, and there’s a Hello Kitty mahjong set that makes for the perfect gift for your mahjong kaki.
With prices ranging from S$3 to S$70 (a steal for Sanrio fans), you’ll want to keep an eye on your wallet — because you’ll definitely be tempted to grab a ton of adorable goodies.
Any items catch your eye?
