Attention, all Studio Ghibli lovers!
What if I told you that you could experience anything and everything Studio Ghibli-related without having to travel to Japan? Find your dreams come true without having to visit the Ghibli Museum or Ghibli Park in Tokyo.
As ArtScience Museum’s largest and most ambitious exhibition yet, The World of Studio Ghibli is set to take place this October 2024. I have high hopes for this!
If it’s anything like their Disney exhibition in 2019, I just know that it won’t be a disappointment.
Many iconic films like My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and more will be showcased in the form of interactive, large-scale exhibits, across the studio’s history, so there’s much to look forward to. Get ready to escape from reality and find yourself traversing through the enchanting worlds that the beloved animation studio have built.
Unlike the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo which does not allow any pictures to be taken, feel free to bring your cameras and go crazy at the exhibition!
You might even chance upon your favourite character like No Face, Catbus or even Totoro. I know I’ll be looking to snap a selfie with a certain magic-wielding blonde individual (cough Howl).
Besides The World of Studio Ghibli, you’ll also get to celebrate the glamour of women with Goddess (April to August 2024), or learn about the life and legacy of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century at the Frida Kahlo: The Life of an Icon (May to September 2024) exhibition.
It perfectly complements the diverse female characters that you can find in Studio Ghibli films like San from Princess Mononoke.
Can’t wait till October? In the meantime, you can catch a ride on bus 103 or 117 and experience Spirited Away vibes (as long as you go for the window seat so that you can really feel like the main character AKA Chihiro Ogino).
