Remember when we went down to their third outlet and speculated that a fourth outlet was probably in their sights?

Guess we’re fortune tellers as they did indeed open a fourth outlet and it’s at none other than JEM.

It’s still a takeaway kiosk — similar to their other outposts — but feel free to take a seat at the surrounding tables (they’re limited, so the quickest wins!).

Continuing their tradition of offering an exclusive flavour of their popular warabimochi drinks at each location, the JEM outlet also features their own unique version.

Here, you’ll have the Mango Yogurt Warabimochi Drink (from S$7.90 for S). I had the opportunity to give it a taste and it was as good as you can imagine.

It was sweet yet slightly tangy — just how fresh mangos are. And, most importantly, it was not watered down at all.

The yogurt added a creamy touch but it surprisingly didn’t feel overly gao. Instead, it was refreshing and well-balanced.

The soft, chewy warabimochi at the bottom of the drink is the icing on the cake, alongside the in-house whipped cream on top.

There’s a lot going on in this yogurt warabimochi drink, so you surely can drink it by itself as a midday snack or dessert after a meal.

However, if you want to go all out and have the full Warabimochi Kamakura experience, you’ll have to accompany it with their famous Warabimochi.

I enjoyed it on the spot in a cup of two pieces (from S$4.90) just on its own but feel free to top it off with ice cream for an extra S$2. 

You can also get them in the 5pc (S$8.90) or 10pc Original Box (S$15.90). The latter even comes in a Paulownia Wooden Box (S$19.90) that’s perfect as a gift.

It’s common for F&B businesses to lose consistency when expanding to multiple outlets, but not Warabimochi Kamakura JEM. Their hand-tossed Warabimochi, coated in roasted kinako, still delivered the same delicious taste as when they first opened.

For my Westies who have yet to try their signature treats, now’s the perfect time to see what all the buzz is about.
