Viral Japanese dessert chain with long queues opens at Takashimaya serving outlet-exclusive black sesame warabimochi drinks & matcha warabimochi

Months into its opening, Warabimochi Kamakura still remains the talk of the town.

After the success of the One Holland Village and Taste Orchard outlets, the crazy viral Japanese dessert chain continues to expand, and is set to open its third (and counting?) takeaway kiosk at Takashimaya on 29 June 2024.

They may be best known for their warabimochi, but it’s their unique dessert-like warabimochi drinks that have truly stolen the spotlight.

In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve already tried all the flavours, ranging from Strawberry Yogurt (from S$9.90) and Coffee Milk (from S$6.90), to the crowd-favourite Asakawa-en Matcha (from S$5.90).

In celebration of this launch, the brand has launched a new outlet-exclusive warabimochi drink flavour, available in two variations. The Black Sesame Milk (from S$7.90 for S) features rich and creamy Hokkaido milk that paired oh-so well with the smooth, chewy warabimochi and earthy black sesame.

Honestly, it’s a combination you can’t go wrong with.

Otherwise, soy milk lovers can try the nostalgic-tasting Black Sesame Soy Milk (from S$7.90 for S), which was thinner in consistency, but with a more pronounced nutty flavour.

Do not that it’s not actually dairy-free due to the addition of whipped cream on top.

Matcha fanatics are in for a treat with the arrival of the all-new Matcha Warabimochi that combines the earthy bitterness of Asakawa-en matcha with nutty, mildly sweet kinako. The bouncy warabimochi is generously coated in the matcha-kinako powder, which makes for an intense matcha-y mouthfeel — just how I like it.

You can choose to enjoy it in 2pc cups (from S$5.90) with or without ice cream, or go big with the 5pc and 10pc boxes.

I’m super biased towards matcha, so I enjoyed it a lot more than the regular Warabimochi (from S$4.90).

If you visit the Takashimaya outlet on any of the following dates: 29 to 30 June and 6 to 7 July, simply buy any Warabimochi drink and you’ll get to purchase a 2-piece Kinako Warabimochi (Original) at S$2, limited to two drinks for two redemptions per pax in a single receipt!

Will you be heading down to Takashimaya for your fix of Warabimochi Kamakura over the weekend?
