There’s just something about eating meals off a banana leaf that makes food taste more delicious than usual. If you haven’t tried it, or if you already have and love it – either way you definitely have to make your way to The Banana Leaf Kitchen for the first eat-all-you-can banana leaf buffet in Johor Bahru.
Located near Legoland, this spacious eatery ladles steaming piles of food on your banana leaf starting with three types of vegetables, followed by a huge serving of briyani or white rice. From there, choose your favourite dishes from the variety of sides in front of you!
Love a good lamb curry? They have it. How about chicken 65? They have it too. (For those not in the know, chicken 65 is an actual spicy, deep-fried chicken dish originating from Hotel Buhari, Chennai in India!)
Load your banana leaf with anything you want including fried onion omelette and (my favouriteee) papadom – and don’t forget to top it all off with a good serving of piping hot curry. Fancy fish curry, chicken curry or dhal curry?
Eat all you want (or can), enjoy multiple servings of your favourite dishes, and at the end, don’t forget to end your meal on a sweet note with a sweet rice dessert.
The buffet costs S$6.30 for adults (RM20), and S$3.16 for kids (RM10) – so it definitely provides more than a bang for your buck.
Alternatively, if you’re not as keen on an all-you-can-eat banana leaf buffet (whyyy), you can also feel free to try the Banana Leaf specials available on the menu – from homestyle mutton curry and fish head curry to beetroot poriyal, puri chicken chettinad and more.
Gather your friends or family with the biggest appetites, it’s time to test your stomachs with this banana leaf buffet!
