After two whole years, a whole lot of patience on our end, and visa-free travel being temporarily suspended for Singaporeans recently… It’s finally time to party Taiwan-style as Singaporeans and Malaysians are able to travel to Taiwan visa-free from 29 September 2022 onwards.

Although arrivals are required to monitor their health for a seven-day period and take rapid tests, the Taiwanese government has announced an end to mandatory COVID-19 quarantine starting on 13 October.

Especially with the end of the year fast approaching, if you’re already starting to dream of your year-end holidays and the travel destination you’d like to spend the holidays at… You might just want to (f.i.n.a.l.l.y.) consider travelling to Taiwan!

We have sorely missed our favourite spots in Taipei – hello Jiufen Old Street with your fragrant teas (all the leng pao cha aka cold brewed teas), whimsical winding alleyways, Studio Ghibli-esque traditional tea house.

Welcome back, Shifen Old Street with your nostalgic train tracks, your rushing waterfall, and decorating those gorgeous sky lanterns before setting them off. (Not to forget the incredible fried rice-stuffed chicken wings hidden at the food cart right at the end of the train station.)

And how about shopping at Ximending, and all the night markets from Shilin Night Market to Raohe Night Market – exploring our way from stall to stall and purchasing favourite finds from furry slides and jackets to filling up on all the incredible street food too!

We definitely can’t leave out all the other places in Taiwan too, from the almost hidden gem of Sun Link Sea (super, super stunning area to check out), the quirky and whimsical Xitou Monster Village, and the usual areas like Sun Moon Lake, Qing Jing Farm, and more.

So if you’re like us and you’re dying to travel to Taiwan… The borders are finally fully open with visa-free entry to Singaporeans and Malaysians – and it’s time to mark your calendars, apply for leave (for us working adults, booo), and fly on back to one of our favourite destinations!
