You can now get Very Dairy’s unique animal-free dairy milk at various supermarkets in Singapore

Got milk? Now, the answer can always be yes — whether you’re vegan and usually opt for plant-based milk for the sake of the environment, or your stomach just doesn’t deal very well with animal-derived milk like cow’s milk.

While dairy-free milk alternatives are widely available in Singapore (even bubble tea shops have started offering oat milk and soy milk options!), it’s pretty much safe to say that not many of us have heard or tried a dairy milk that’s produced entirely without the help of any cows or goats — that is until Very Dairy, Asia’s very first animal-free dairy milk landed in Singapore.

But what exactly is the difference between this milk and the usual dairy-free milk that we’ve been seeing all around?

For starters, it isn’t plant-based like soy milk, oat milk, coconut milk and so on. It’s true blue dairy — meaning that it contains the exact same protein and calcium as traditional dairy that comes from animals, just without the animals (thanks to the advanced technology available now).

So even if you’re vegan, you’ll also be able to enjoy all the benefits and nutrients of dairy with this milk as there are no animals involved. It’s also cholesterol, hormone and lactose-free, which makes it great for those who don’t stomach regular dairy milk very well (did you know that Asians are much more prone to being lactose intolerant compared to the rest of the world?).

Other than being a great ethical source of dairy milk on its own, the process of making this milk is also much less detrimental to the planet as compared to most commercial cow milk productions (so brownie points for that!).

For now, there are three flavours available for this revolutionary animal-free dairy milk product — plain, strawberry and chocolate, and you can find them at many supermarkets like Fairprice, Cold Storage, Giant and RedMart (S$4.95/1L)

Who knows, maybe when this becomes more of a norm for Singaporeans, there’ll be more flavours rolled out (fingers-crossed!).
