Thanks to local bakery Swish Roll, there’s a hot new pastry (hint: circular croissants) in town. And who knows? It just might blow all your favourite pastries out of the water.
Over the past month, snaking queues have formed at Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery in New York City, full of people eager to get a taste of the Suprême, a round, cream-filled donut-croissant hybrid.
These extremely photogenic croissants, which are always glazed to perfection, have gone viral on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram — some are even calling this new creation the “next Cronut”.
Located near Botanic Gardens MRT is Swish Rolls, a bakery best known for its European-style swiss rolls and croissants, and it has launched its very own rendition of those circular croissants right here on our shores — Croons.
These freshly baked “croissant moons” (hence the name) are filled with generous amounts of cream or ganache, and are apparently a lot more flaky and dense as compared to the traditional horn-shaped croissant.
There are five flavours to choose from, including the Loaded Pistachio (S$5.80), Deep Dark Varlhona Chocolate (S$5.80), and Super Summer Berries (S$5.80), a raspberry, strawberry, chocolate, and lemon-flavoured number.
Pastry purists can savour the “original” Crackly Sea Salt Butter Croissant (S$3), while those who have less of a sweet tooth can try the Ham ‘N Cheeze (S$5.80), the only savoury option on the menu (for now).
Like the OG Suprêmes, these flaky pastries break open to reveal a luscious oozy cream core— get your cameras ready.
Do note that limited quantities are available daily — pre-orders can be made here.
Get your hands on a Croon or two ASAP!
