While it isn’t too difficult to travel to Thailand from Singapore, sometimes you just want to feel the happy Thai vibes and enjoy some authentic Thai food without having to go through the hassle of booking a plane ticket and preparing for a flight.

If that’s you, then you’re in luck because we did some digging and stumbled upon Wang Thai Kitchen — an extremely underrated Thai restaurant serving up some seriously delicious and authentic Thai food. Plus, the prices are really affordable and the portions are pretty generous too, so this is definitely one that’s going to be bang for your buck.

Hidden away in Toa Payoh, the Thai restaurant is uber vibrant and rustic with Thai-inspired decor and lots of greenery and flowers. It almost feels like you’re in a tropical restaurant in Bangkok — very uplifting vibes and a great place to enjoy their yummy food offerings after a long day.

Settle down and start with some tantalising starters to whet your appetite like the tangy and refreshing Thai Mango Salad (S$6) or Papaya Salad with Salted Egg (S$12). If you prefer something a little more savoury, there’s also the Homemade Thai Fish Cake (S$9) and many other appetisers.

Other than that, there’s also an extremely extensive range of mains — the most popular ones being the Pineapple Fried Rice (from S$6), Thai Kway Chap Soup with Roasted Pork (S$7) and Crabmeat with Fried Rice (S$12).

Of course, you can’t go to a Thai restaurant without ordering some sour and spicy Tom Yum Seafood Soup (from S$6.80). There’s usually a few kinds of Tom Yum soup at Thai restaurants, but most tend to go for the clear version here (although there is also a version with coconut milk priced from S$8).
