Coming in hot!
Steamed bun specialist Wo Wo Dian from Sichuan is marking its 136-year legacy and its first year in Singapore with an exclusive deal and a new limited-edition item.

From 15 May 2025 to 17 May 2025, the restaurant chain is dropping it like it’s hot with a whopping 36% off on your total dine-in bill.
Just say “Wo Wo Dian” 36 times within 36 seconds to enjoy the promotion.
Unsure what to order? Not to worry. We tried a few new and existing dishes to see which items are worthy of taking on the heat (Admin was burned many times but survived to give you this review).

The menu’s hotshot has to be the Dry Pot Chicken (S$29.80++), a bestseller and a signature showstopper.

Part of the all-new Dry Pot Series, my dining partner and I found this incredibly filling both on the table and in our stomachs. We definitely recommend sharing this with at least one more person.
I have the weaker spice tolerance between us, meaning it practically knocked me off my feet. This is not for the faint of heart (and tongue), as it will leave your mouth overwhelmingly numb and your throat burning.
Don’t worry, you can request a milder spice level if you’re not feeling brave.
To fan the flames, we also got some side dishes to try. These include the non-spicy Stir-fried Romaine Lettuce with Minced Garlic (S$11.90) and Kung Pao Eggplant with Fragrant Shrimp Balls (S$22.90).

The former provided much-needed freshness and crunch while the latter brought more meat and heat. These two were practically good on their own but are great companions to the mains.
Finally, what Wo Wo Dian is best known for — their buns.
We ordered the Century-old Traditional Pork Bun (S$8.90), the original of the bunch.

When I say Wo Wo Dian means business when it comes to their buns, I mean it. Their buns are made traditionally, using daily sourdough starter, handmade dough, and are steamed fresh to order.
This effort translates into the taste, which we felt was like biting into a cloud. They also weren’t shy with the filling, as it was packed with tender pork.

Of course, we can’t talk about Wo Wo Dian’s anniversary celebrations without its main event — the all-new, limited-time Cheeeeesy Pull Fresh Chilli Chicken Bun (S$5.90).

Available only during its anniversary celebration, this special bun is worthy of appearing on your social media feed just from its impressive cheese pull alone!
Funnily enough, we likened its taste to an incredibly cheesy pizza but with a super soft “crust”. Chicken chunks and fresh chilli are in the mix too, but we didn’t find it as spicy as we thought it’d be and there wasn’t as much chicken.
Still, it was satisfying to chew on, and the restaurant is still improving this item so it could be even better the next time you visit.
Will you answer Wo Wo Dian’s calls for celebrations soon?
