We might not have permanent night markets like Shilin Night Market in Taiwan or Myeongdong Night Market in Seoul, but we do have pasar malams that pop up every now and then.
While pasar malams used to be fairly simple in the past, it seems like they have recently become much more creative with their offerings just like at the new Yishun Food Street located right next to Yishun MRT.
Running from 17 September to 2 October 2022, this mega pasar malam has over 50 stores selling a myriad of indulgent goodies.
Other than the usual pasar malam classics like herbal tea eggs and Ramly burgers, the food street also has a wide variety of innovative bites from all over the world like authentic Thai skewers (3 for S$5), Honey Chicken Chop (S$5.50), Jagung Bakar (S$3) (it’s corn!) Mentai Corn Dog (S$7) and many, many more options at affordable prices.
For the loklok lovers, there’s also a loklok stall that’s reminiscent of the ones that you see around in Johor!
If you’re one with a sweet tooth, you’ll also be able to find many stalls selling decadent sweet treats like unique bingsu with local flavours like Bandung Bingsu and Chendol Bingsu as well as pandan and bandung flavoured waffles (Prima Deli style!) and even mini pancakes.
And that’s not all — if you want to get in some retail therapy, there’s also a huge section dedicated to potted plants and furniture for you to furnish your dream home. For the little ones, they can look out for an array of games like claw machines and merry-go-rounds as well as bouncy castles.
To satisfy all your cravings at one place, head on over to Yishun Food Street!
