Didn’t get a chance to visit the Singapore Food & Beverage Fair 2023? Can never pass up on a good food deal?
From now till 25 June 2023, you can look forward to over 200 exhibitors and food stalls offering the best of local and Asian eats at the Singapore EXPO in the 2023 edition of Yummy Food Expo.

With over 1,000 F&B and lifestyle products to browse, this four-day extravaganza will have you sampling, eating, and shopping for hours on end. And of course, you can look forward to authentic cuisine from Taiwan and Thailand AKA two of Singaporeans’ favourite foodie hotspots.

So, yes, you’ll get to tuck into hot food and try out home and wellness products at the same time, in the same space.
But that’s not all — there will also be over S$68,888 worth of prizes up for grabs at the ever-popular spend & win lucky draw (with a minimum spending of S$100), so you might stand a chance to win tour packages to Taiwan, product hampers, top-of-the-line water dispensers, and more!

Firstly, you’ll probably see hordes of aunties and uncles queuing up at popular local eateries for Stewed Pork Belly Rice (lu rou fan) from 8 Degrees Taiwanese Bistro, Michelin-plated traditional handmade kueh from Poh Cheu, and Kong Ba Bao from Westlake, just to name a few.
The Expo Carrot Cake from Something Good is always a big hit with the crowds, and we opted for our plate of Traditional Carrot Cake to be doused in Salted Egg Sauce (S$5), which you can never go wrong with!

Pick up a box of assorted paus from Restaurant Home (and bring it back home for your ahma, perhaps) — we highly recommend the nostalgic sweet-salty Crunchy Peanut with Sugar and Spicy Fish Otah with Spices and Coconut.
Alternatively, the Fried Liu Sha Bao and Tau Sar Pau from Mdm Ling Bakery will make excellent gifts for those with a sweet(er) tooth.

Seafood fans who are willing to get their hands dirty can pick up a portion of piquant Chilli Crab with Mantou Dip from House of Seafood — just look out for a giant inflatable crab.

All you hardcore chicken rice lovers out there should definitely try a packet of succulent salted Kampong Chicken Rice (S$5) from Pin Si Kitchen. The stall also offers a version with Chicken Drumstick (S$5.50), which is right up my alley.

On a more fusion note, take your love for laksa and pasta to the next level with the newly-introduced Kampong Dry Laksa, served with sliced fish cakes and a crispy chicken cutlet, from Kim’s Paradise.

But if you’re here for all things Thai (BKK withdrawals, anyone?), take a walk around the Thailand pavilion and you’ll spot authentic Thai eats like khanom buang (crispy pancakes), boat noodles, moo ping, and all the street food you can manage!
The Grilled Pork Skewers (S$2 for one, S$5 for three) from Baan Apple are particularly tasty — moist, juicy, and oh-so flavourful.

As a sucker for curry noodles, I made a beeline for the rich, creamy, and aromatic Khao Soi (S$6) from Krua Thai Lad Fah, a one-stop stall for crowd favourites like Tom Yum Mama, Fried Chicken w Sticky Rice, and Luk Choob, and made my colleagues fall in love with it.

I was also really excited to see Indonesian food-festival favourite Chris Pork at the event, with an enticing array of Pork Belly and Sausage Rice Bowls. Don’t underestimate their killer sambal — it made me almost book a spontaneous trip to Bali.

Situated right next door is a classic — Potato Corner — so you can totally get your fix of Potato Fries in flavours like Sour Cream, Cheese, Creamy Truffle, and Spicy Curry (it’s new!) at Yummy Food Expo 2023.

On the other end of the spectrum, you’ll be able to find a new vegan-friendly meat substitute in the form of “Wagyu Minced” by Aftermeats. There are two event-exclusive dishes to choose from: Spaghetti Bolognese and Mapo Tofu, which are available on a “Pay As Your Rate” basis.
Just be sure to give the team your feedback!

Despite feeling stuffed, we couldn’t pass on the chance to enjoy Dochi Dochi‘s fresh handmade mochi donuts yet again. The adorable mini donuts (dubbed “dochis“) come in sweet (S$7 for 6pcs) and savoury (from S$8 for 6pcs), in flavours like Maple Osmanthus, Biscoff Crunch, Parmesan Garlic Butter, and Truffle Mushroom (a must-order).
If you’ve yet to try the event-exclusive Dochi Nana (S$5), their take on a chewy goreng pisang, that’s slathered in a sauce and a topping of your choice, now’s your chance.

Feeling thirsty from all that shopping and sampling? Head down to Thai Paper Bag Thai Tea for aromatic Thai milk tea, or keep it boozy with premium Italian moscato infused with 100% real fruit from Intervino Singapore.

Although we were spoilt for choice by the variety of snacks on offer, I’ve got to give a special mention to Malaysian brand KK Cheese and their extremely addictive crispy spicy and salted egg cheese snacks. Let’s just say I’d totally demolish an entire tub on my own if self-restraint wasn’t a thing…
We seriously can’t get enough of food shows, so this is your sign to eat, try, and buy whatever you want at the Yummy Food Expo 2023, which will be running over the weekend up till 25 June 2023. Once again, admission is free, so get your reusable bags ready, and prepare yourselves for a spot of retail (and food) therapy!
