New brunch spot Ai Cafe sells IG-worthy desserts like matcha bamboo

I think the term “IG-worthy” has been overused for a lot of cafe food, especially dessert items. But that’s not the case at the new Ai Cafe, which serves up some really intricately made desserts that are not just lightly dressed up cakes like at some other places.

The interior itself is also very elegantly filled with whites and wood tones, and there’s even a photo wall with the classic angel wings decal if that’s your thing.

Plus it’s also located in the hip neighbourhood of Bendemeer, so you can always swing by Ai Cafe as you go cafe hopping in the area to popular spots such as Glacier and Sweet Cheeks.

Similar to their neighbours, the most eye-catching items here at Ai Cafe are mostly their intricately-crafted dessert items that include things lsuch as AI Magnum (S$9.80), Lemon Cremuex Tart (S$8), Banoffee Tart (S$8.50), and MSW Durian Truffle Chocolate (S$10.80).

All of their pastries are made in house, making their attention to detail even more impressive.

Most people have been fawning about one dessert at Ai Cafe — the Matcha Goma ($9.80) which is magically shaped to look like a bamboo shoot. When you cut it open you’ll see layers of matcha sponge, black sesame mousse, black sesame feuilletine, and a crumbly base for a bit of extra texture.

For fruit lovers, another gorgeous option is the Mango Passion (S$8.80) which is a mango-loaded dessert featuring a ball pit of orange popping pearls.

Otherwise, the other IG darling on Ai Cafe’s dessert menu will be the Ai Bao de Litchi (S$8.80) which has lychee and earl grey components all encased within a guileful looking disguise of a traditional bao — quite a unique look.

If desserts aren’t enough, then you can also get some of their savoury mains like their signature Fish & Chips with Homemade Tartar Sauce (S$18) which comes with a hulking slab of orange-golden fried fish.

Like other cafes, Ai Cafe also carries a wide range of caffeinated drinks for a relaxing chilling afternoon with a simple cup of Long Black costing S$4 and a Flat White costing S$5, but if you want something special you can go for their flavoured lattes such as Rose Latte (S$6) or Roasted Almond Latte ($6).
