For those of you familiar with ORTO Yishun, chances are you’ve probably dined at this Thai restaurant before — BKK Bistro & Bar. If you’re a fellow fan of their S$0.80 boat noodles, you were probably disappointed to hear that they won’t be moving to the new ORTO at West Coast.
However, I come bearing great news — the restaurant has opened an outlet at Kallang, so you’ll still be able to slurp up those mini bowls of goodness (yes, at the same price!) even after their OG outlet at Yishun closes!
For the uninitiated, BKK Bistro & Bar (affectionately known as “ORTO boat noodles”) is known for serving up some of the most affordable bowls of boat noodles in Singapore. At just 80 cents a bowl, you really can’t go wrong. Plus, they also have two soup bases and six different toppings for you to choose from — beef ball, beef slice, pork ball, pork liver, pork slice, and prawn.
While the portions are pretty small and it might take you a couple of bowls to satiate your appetite, I’d say it’s still pretty worth it especially for those who tend to have trouble deciding what to eat. Why make a decision when you can just order all combinations to try?
You can also add on sides like moo ping (S$10.80), chicken wings (S$7.80), and more to go with your boat noodles.
Apart from their usual menu, the restaurant also offers up other dishes exclusive to the Kallang outlet — think Thai Street Chicken Rice (S$9.80), Braised Pork Rice (S$9.80), Spicy Basil Sliced Beef Rice (S$10.80), and more!
Finally, finish off your meal on a sweet note with desserts like Thai Tea Ice Cream with Pearls (S$6.80) and the IG-worthy Rainbow Sticky Rice Balls with Mango Slice (S$9.80).
While the Kallang outlet closes earlier the OG, you can actually head down for lunch since it also opens earlier (at 12pm).
