Cats of the World Purrzaar is a cat-themed market with crafts, workshops, art spaces & a cat adoption drive

by Natalie Lim

The Cats of the World Purrzaar (COTW) by Cat Welfare Society (CWS) is happening on 10 and 11 April 2021.

It doesn’t matter if you’re #teamdogs or #teamcats. The one thing that unites us all is the love for cute, fluffy, cuddly animals, and that we would die for them. If the description sounds like you, then this cat-themed market would be right up your alley.

Some of us are lucky enough to have furkids as part of our families, but for those of you who aren’t, you can snag some cat fashion accessories and crafts from the 10 vendors featured at the market — that way, you can still keep these “furbabies” close to heart.

To add on another reason for visiting, part of the proceeds will go to CWS to support their cause. These are some of the vendors that will be participating.

Cat Mama Shop

Cat Mama Shop is an online store from CWS itself, so it’s no surprise that they feature cute kitties on every apparel that they sell. From T-shirts to tote bags and even face masks, you’re sure to find a feline design to fall in love with.

Cat toys will also be available, so you can bring home a little souvenir for Felix.

Amy Handmade Ceramics

With Amy Handmade Ceramics, you’ll always have a conversation starter with your house guests. The shop specialises in ceramic pieces such as sauce plates, cups and bowls, all blessed with the presence of a little kitty cat.

A limited collection of ceramic cat brooches will be featured at COTW as well, so keep your eyes peeled.

Hang With Dora

A cat owner’s love is always put to the test when they encounter yet another damaged/destroyed furniture. However, the anger doesn’t stay for long and is usually replaced with a new cat toy or gimmick — after all, it’s our faults that they’re bored, right?

To truly give your kitty the best, get a uniquely designed cat hammock from Hang With Dora. Made from a recycled cotton rope that’s tightly woven together, the hammock is resistant to scratching and clawing, and perfect for catnaps or sunbathing.

Purrballs

Purrballs’ designs are inspired by the lovely community cats residing in Singapore. Besides selling cat-themed collectables, there are also cat stationeries such as notebooks, post-it-notes, stickers and tapes available for purchase.

Eat to Draw

Eat to Draw was founded by Carlyn Law, a talented SG based artist who undertakes pet portrait commissions and teaches workshops. At her stall, you can expect hand-painted enamel mugs, cork coasters and pot holders adorned with cat artworks that will melt even the steeliest of hearts.

Other vendors such as Momshoo, Oatsie’s Trunk, Mu Yu Studio, StuffSusieMade and Troops On Print will also be there.

Also from Carlyn Law will be a Cats Block Printing Workshop, where you can learn the fun art technique of carving rubber stamps and making prints. The step-by-step tutorial of carving a cat stamp will be shown, and participants will get to bring home their hand-carved stamps and artworks.

Since all materials are included, you only have to bring yourself and a furry little friend in mind.

Here’s the real deal. CWS will also be holding an adoption drive at the Cats of the World Purrzaar, so if you’re on the lookout to bring a furry friend home, one of the featured kitties may just pull at your heartstrings. But remember — don’t get them on impulse.
