When it comes to Japanese cuisine, Potong Pasir may not be the first neighbourhood that comes to mind. However, speciality chirashi restaurant Chirashi Sora is here to change that.

Previously an anime-themed izakaya concept (Konoha Izakaya) that has since shuttered its doors, Chirashi Sora is now helmed by the former head chef of Kaunta and House of Chirashi.

The newly revamped restaurant doles out some of the most unique and aesthetically-pleasing barachirashi, chirashi don, and even aburi chirashi don you can find in Singapore. And in generous portions to boot!

The signature Hana Bara (S$28.80) is a feast for the eyes (and belly) — it is piled high with assorted cubes of sashimi, furikake, ikura, kamaboko, sakura ebi, tobiko, edamame, cucumber, microgreens, and sweet tamagoyaki. Unlike the usual Japanese rice, the chirashi dons here come with aromatic kinoko mushroom gobu burdock rice.

Take it up a notch with the Hana Uni Bara (S$38.80/S$58.80) or even the Hana Premium Bara (S$58.80/$78.80). The latter is brimming with uni, truffle, and caviar, on top of assorted premium sashimi.

For those who prefer an emphasis on fresh seafood, the Kaisen Chirashi (S$25.80), which highlights salmon, akami zuke, hamachi, and mekajiki (swordfish), will be right up your alley.

If you’re in the mood for something more unique, the Sakana Chirashi (S$38.80) is a picture-perfect ensemble of negitoro, mekajiki, yellowtail, salmon, aburi salmon belly and aburi engawa (flatfish) adorned with tamagoyaki and an egg yolk.

Drop by on a rainy day for the hearty and comforting Kabuto Miso Soup; you can choose from the likes of Salmon Fish Head (S$22), Hamachi Fish Head (S$28), or Seafood (S$35), all of which are served with a sharing portion of rice or udon.
