Scale to greater heights at Changi Airport’s first rock climbing facility with an 8m high rock wall, 12m long bouldering wall, special courses for children & more

by Marcus Leong

You don’t have to be travelling to visit the airport. There’s actually plenty of fun and exciting things to do at Changi Airport Terminal 3, from the [email protected] to free movie screenings at the ST3PS, and even an underground kids carnival. The fun never stops at Changi Airport and it’s about to get bigger with its first ever rock-climbing facility, [email protected]

Opening on 4 March 2023, [email protected] is run by The Rock School (TRS) with guided as well as free-and-easy programmes for all climbers with varying aptitudes. If you’re looking to get in shape after watching Netflix’s Physical 100, then this is a good place to start.

Fun fact, the walls are provided by the official wall provider for the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games – so you know it’s legit stuff. The walls also feature 20 different climbing routes of varying difficulty for you to put your primate skills to the test.

If you’ve ever gone rock climbing, you would know that the belayer plays an important role – it’s the ultimate friendship test because your life is in their hands. But at [email protected], each of the wall’s nine lanes are equipped with state-of-the-art auto belay systems. With these systems in place, you and your best mates can climb with a peace of mind – no more letting your trust issues get in the way of your fun.

If you think you’re the Monkey King, you can choose to scale the 8-metre-high rock wall spanning basements 2 and 3. If heights aren’t your thing, you can opt for the 12-metre-long bouldering wall instead – don’t worry, this wall is only 2.5 metres high so it’s acrophobia-friendly. Prices for a two-hour unguided Climb and Play session start at S$15.

The family-friendly attraction also has a special Rock Tots programme (S$30) for climbers aged two to six years old. Children four years and older can participate in the one-hour guided Climb & Play programme (S$25). What’s also great is [email protected] will also offer classes for those with special needs led by specially-trained pros, though on an ad-hoc basis.

Currently, [email protected] is offering a promotional pricing of up to 10% off from 11 March 2023 until further notice. The promotional packages include complimentary equipment rental – just remember to bring a pair of socks, covered shoes, and a water bottle.
