Climbing and bouldering has become quite a popular sport in the last couple of years, and Project Send is the newest kid to join in the fun. Located in Esplanade Mall (aka the durian), this swanky climbing gym offers more than just climbing. From beginner-friendly walls, to strength training and mobility classes – and even an in-house cafe – there’s so much monkeying around to do here!

Project Send’s sprawling 5,200 sqft space boasts over 70 climbing walls of varying difficulty – level 1 being the easiest (for beginners!) and level 12 being the hardest. But just how difficult are we talking? Well, the walls were built by certified national route setter Ivan Toh, so you can kinda guess how hard they can be.

If you have a fear of heights, don’t fret, for the walls here don’t take you too far off the ground (given the Esplanade’s low ceilings). Those looking to try out climbing and bouldering for the first time will also be able to do so with ease. The routes change every week which means there will never be a dull moment here as every climb will pose a new challenge to overcome.

If you have ever scaled a rock wall before, you would know that climbing is more than just a test of your physical strength. Not only does it test your agility and cognitive processing skills, but it’s pretty much a full body workout. Which is why we appreciate that Project Send has bean bags placed by the side for you to plonk your body after conquering the walls – trust us, that might become your favourite spot in the gym.

After working out a sweat, you can head over to Beta Cafe, located within the gym, to rest and recharge over delicious bites like grilled cheese sandwiches, bagels, and peanut butter and jelly toasties. They also have refreshing smoothies, juices, teas, and freshly brewed coffee to give you that energy boost. After all that hard work, you deserve a good treat.

When it comes to climbing, strength training is especially important because you will need loads of it to keep you up on the wall while you figure out your next move. Apart from strength, mobility and agility is also important. Fortunately, Project Send also conducts strength training and mobility classes conducted by professional coaches who will also teach different climbing techniques.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, Project Send has a special climb pass for couples who climb together on 11 February 2023. But of course, you can also invite your friends or family to climb with you.
The special class pass is essentially a full-day with access to additional activities like art jamming, playing card games to get to know your partner better, and a special goodie bag. More details for the special class pass can be found here — bookings must be made by tomorrow (8 February).

First timers can also enjoy a special First Taste Package, which allows you full access to the gym for an entire week for just S$40. The best part? If you can’t sleep at night, you can head over to Project Send to tire yourself out as the gym is open until 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Head over to Project Send for some monkey business!
