What better way to stay cool for the summer than to indulge in a giant scoop of ice cream. If you ever find yourself wandering along Jalan Besar looking for a cool place to hide from the sun, then make sure to hop inside Cold Break for a much needed cold break — literally.

Located along 202 Jalan Besar, Cold Break is one of the newest kids on the block and is best known for their unique ice cream flavours paired with the signature chewy pandan nian gao waffles. Fun fact: their ice creams are vegan and vegetarian-friendly too!

Truffle lovers will be delighted to know that Cold Break has an interesting Truffle Infused Chocolate ice cream flavour. As you would expect, you’ll be hit with the truffle aroma first, before the rich, decadent and chocolatey goodness takes over.

Personally, I prefer to enjoy truffle in savoury dishes like pasta or fries instead of in ice cream, but I can see why people like this combination.

For my pistachio lovers, we have some amazing news for you. Cold Break offers not one but two types of pistachio ice cream here — Sicilian Pistachio and Roasted Pistachio. I won’t be surprised if you end up being spoiled for choice.

Probably one flavour that is most unique to this cafe is the Sour Plum and Prune flavour — who would’ve thought that sour plum and prune would work as an ice cream flavour?

This flavour leans towards a sour and tangy profile with bits of prune to show that they use only the good stuff. If you’re looking for something refreshing to beat the heat, make sure to order this one!

Prices for the ice cream starts from S$4.50 for a single scoop and S$8 for a double scoop

What’s ice cream without waffles, am I right? Here, you can choose from the regular Buttermilk or Pandan Waffle (S$6 each) which are crispy and super fluffy. But of course, mochi fans will definitely want to get the Nian Gao waffle (S$7) — honestly, having tried this combination, I can’t go back to having regular waffles with my ice cream.

Drinks-wise, the cafe offers your regular coffees, teas and soda from just S$4. The Ice Oolong Lychee (S$6.50) comes highly recommended and is perfect for washing down the sweet treats.

The best part about Cold Break is, they’re open till 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, and until midnight on Sundays — TGIF plans anyone?

Now that the temperatures are starting to heat up, it’s time to head over to Cold Break to cool down!
