This massive 11-storey floral shopping mall with a rooftop garden, cafe & more is a one-stop shop for all your gardening needs

The 11 storey Far East Flora Centre that opened last week on 29 September is paradise for botany buffs. Imagine an Ikea, but with all the gardening tools, flowers, trees, accessories you could ever want and of course — a garden-themed cafe.

As Singapore’s first vertical floral shopping mall, the first thing every Singaporean would appreciate is the comfortable air-conditioned environment that you can do your flower shopping in (goodbye, mosquitoes!).

But Far East Flora Centre is determined to go above and beyond. Other than the 1,000 types of flowers and over 500 plants that you can expect to see, there’ll be home decor, pet supplies, a rooftop garden and fresh groceries!

There are 11 storeys in total, but you’ll be able to find all the shopping concentrated on five floors: Basement 1, Level 1 and 2, Level 9 and the Sky Garden. Levels 4 and 5 are parking areas while Levels 6, 7 and 8 are restricted areas.

The basement is concentrated on lifestyle gardening, with flowering plants, cute terrariums, exotic plants and plant-themed home and lifestyle items like a leaf-shaped cushion, lavender-scented pillows and more.

Level 1 is where you can get all the garden tools and accessories, as well as indoor houseplants like succulents, floral decoration, small pots and planters and so much more. The cafe is also located on this floor, aptly named F’east.

Surround yourself with soothing greenery as you f’east upon their western-style menu, with an all-day breakfast selection of avocado toast (S$20.52), mains like Fish ‘n Chips (S$19.33), and Japanese (wafu) and Italian pastas (from S$17.17).

They offer desserts like cakes, bagels, croffles (S$17.28) and Ricotta Hotcake (S$18.36) as well.

The wholesale fresh market is located on Level 2. This is where you’ll be able to get 99 roses for your anniversary without breaking the bank, and fresh fruits and vegetables at really, really affordable prices.

I mean, where else can you get five lemons for less than S$2?

Ryan’s Grocery and Pet Lovers Centre are also located on this floor, so you can complete your shopping trip with flowers, groceries, and treats for your little furry buddy.

Level 3 serves as a carpark and as a space for events, so skip ahead to Level 9 if you want to continue your shopping spree. Level 9 is water-themed — items that are suited for speciality gardening are all gathered here.

Take a leisurely stroll through this level to explore the aesthetic vivariums (a term that encompasses all enclosed areas for raising lifeforms, including terrariums, paludariums etc.)

The paludariums will surely catch your eye with features of both aquatic and terrestrial elements.

Finally, we have the rooftop Sky Garden that everyone is looking forward to. You’ll be able to find fruit trees, herbs and edibles, outdoor plants including aquatic ones like lotuses, big pots and planters and more all enjoying the sunlight on the roof.

Don’t worry, there are shaded sections on the rooftop as well, so you can enjoy an amazing unhindered view of the sky without the sun in your eyes.
