Neil Road is shaping up to be one of the hottest cafe haunts in Singapore, especially for those with a sweet tooth. Seriously, the number of ice cream and dessert spots popping up in the area continues to grow every week.

If you’ve only just begun indulging (we are already beginning the year-end festivities, after all), here’s a stunning new spot worth bookmarking — Fieldnotes by Zee & Elle.

Nestled along the stretch of speciality coffee joints near Maxwell MRT station, Fieldnotes is the first dine-in concept by the team behind popular online cake shop Zee & Elle.

The calming and aesthetically-pleasing space adopts the same clean, minimalist interior (with touches of greenery) you see at many cafes these days.

The intricate, multi-layered fresh cream creations you can find at Zee & Elle are inspired by lush botanicals and whimsical colours and are freshly baked to order in the studio.

No preservatives are used; just pure ingredients like butter, sugar, eggs, and 100% fruits.

True to its ethos, the selection of pastel-hued cakes sold at the cafe feature botanical flavours and light-as-air fresh cream — pleasing to both the eye and the palate.

First-timers who’ve yet to try anything from the brand can go for the signature Honey Yuzu Slice, which incorporates the tangy flavours of yuzu and manuka honey from New Zealand. Alternatively, the equally popular Mango Yuzu comes studded with fresh mango chunks — an enticing option for fans of mango desserts.

Another must-try is the unconventional yet delectable Guava Lychee Slice comprising a guava-infused sponge layered with guava cream and lychee bits.

Matcha lovers will naturally gravitate towards the Matcha Azuki, soft matcha sponge layered with sweet azuki beans and matcha chantilly cream, or the Uji Matcha Strawberry Slice, a fruity and earthy combination of matcha sponge, fresh cream, and strawberry compote.

Cakes aren’t the only desserts on the menu — you can also find the decadent Chocolate Hazelnut Praline Tart and plated desserts like the Senga Strawberry Waffles with creamy vanilla ice cream.

Pair the sweet treats of your choice with a Sweet Potato Latte (from S$7) or refreshing Sparkling Strawberry Bliss (S$7.50).

All things considered, you should definitely take some time to sit down and smell the roses at Fieldnotes by Zee & Elle.
