With how hot and humid Singapore is, ice cream is practically a necessity. It’s one of the best ways to cool down and feel refreshed with a crisp cone and your favourite flavour of choice in hand.
Honestly, a block of chocolate ice cream in rainbow bread from the neighbourhood ice cream uncle is more than enough to make my day… But for days where you want to indulge in artisanal gelato that come in unique flavours — here are 16 ice cream shops where one scoop just won’t be enough.
1. Monarchs & Milkweed Gelato
Offering flavours such as Soursop Mint, Brown Butter Sage, and Ispahan — that’s lychee, rose, and raspberry — Monarchs & Milkweed Gelato is where you’ll find smooth and creamy gelato with complex and innovative flavours.
When you visit, it’s also worth having your ice cream in a cone, because their cones are made in-house every day with fragrant French butter, complementing the gelato perfectly.
Monarchs & Milkweed Gelato was started by ex-fine dining pastry chefs who wanted to bring quality gelato to diners, and it’s safe to say, they’ve definitely succeeded.
2. Mylo’s Gelato
Newly opened at Gardens by the Bay, Mylo’s Gelato offers over 20 seasonal gelato flavours, making it the ideal place for a post-workout treat. All their gelato is made in-house, with refreshing flavours such as Apple Pie, Smoked Maple Bacon, and Coconut and Pandan.
A must-try item is the Gelato Sandwich — a generous scoop of gelato served between a toasted brioche bun.
And good news for all pet-owners: Mylo’s Gelato is a pet-friendly cafe, so you can bring your furkids along for a fun time. The cafe even serves iced popsicles and baked treats for dogs, so you’ll be able to indulge in dessert together.
3. hay, gelato
Who knew hay could actually taste good? This gelato place is known for their creative botanical flavours, including Brown Sugar Rosemary, Yuzu Ginger, and of course, Smoked Hay (yes, it’s actually made of hay!).
The shop might be relatively small, but the gelato they serve is certainly big on flavour. Plus, they’re also open till two in the morning, making them the perfect spot for a late-night supper.
4. Burnt Cones
The name Burnt Cones comes from the different ice cream cones the shop serves that are ‘burnt’ to different levels. There’s the light, medium, and dark, and they vary in terms of crunch and taste.
But of course, it’s not just the cones that make this ice cream shop a popular choice amongst those who live in the west. Their gelato is smooth and robust with flavour, and their waffles are also known for being crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

What’s special about Overscoop is that they serve you a free mini-scoop of ice cream in a flavour of your choice on top of your own, hence the name. It’s the perfect concept for anyone who wants to try out a new flavour, but isn’t sure if they’ll like it.
Their best-selling flavours are the Strawberry Cheesecake, Honeycomb, and Roasted Pistachio, which you can pair with a croffle — a croissant-waffle — for something a little different.
