Earlier this year, we were hit with the sad news that Cathay Cineplexes was exiting Cineleisure. But then, some really exciting news about a collab between Golden Village X The Projector taking over the space. Well, the wait is finally over as Golden Village X The Projector is opening its doors from 28 November 2023.
The Golden Village X The Projector space will take over the space previously occupied by Cathay Cineplexes in Cineleisure. You definitely will not be able to miss it because the space has been transformed into a vibey retro movie theatre.
The movie theatre will feature six newly refreshed cinema halls — three Golden Village branded halls and three by The Projector. What sets this movie theatre apart from many others is that you’ll be able to find a mix of movie titles here, ranging from popular box office movies to lesser known indie films.
If you’re looking for a cool new place to watch movies in town, you can do so at the three GV halls here. The three halls by The Projector will offer a diverse range of thought-provoking films that include independent, arthouse, foreign films, cult classics, documentaries and more.
Whether you’re in the mood to catch the latest blockbuster or in your self-reflection era, there’s definitely something for you to enjoy.
Some movies on the line-up include CAROL, Killers of the Flower Moon, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, and Die Hard. In the true spirit of Christmas, of course the cinema will be screening the popular Christmas classic The Nightmare Before Christmas across the four weekends in December.
Twihearts will be thrilled to know that the cinema will be holding a special Twilight 15th Anniversary screening (wow! Has it been 15 years since Twilight debuted on the big screens already?). Are you team Edward or team Jacob? You are welcome to fight it out in the cinemas — may the best team win.
In case you’re wondering, yes you’ll still be able to catch The Marvels, The Hunger Games, Napoleon, Disney’s Wish and all the other latest movies here too.
The movie theatre will also have its own in-house restaurant, No Spoilers Bar and Dining Restaurant (quite an apt name if you ask me). The 44-seater restaurant will serve unique Southeast Asian soul food including their signature Beef Rendang Short Ribs and Cempedak Brulee tacos — I’m typically not a fan of cempedak, but this dish got me intrigued.
You’ll also be able to get your quintessential movie snacks like popcorn, nachos, gourmet hotdogs and more. The restaurant will also have a fully stocked bar with an eight tap draft machine with beers from Rocky Ridge Brewery, if you’re one of those who pairs their movie with a pint of ice cold beer.
On Fridays and Saturdays, you can dance the night away with live music blasting in the background. No Spoilers Bar will also host DJ nights from 10.30pm till late. The restaurant is open from 11am to 11pm on Sunday to Thursday, and until 12am on Friday and Saturday.
