Japan now allows non-escorted package tours and increases its daily arrival cap from Sep 7

Since the pandemic, we’ve all been dreaming of returning to travelling, especially to Japan, and now you can. Travellers are allowed to book non-escorted package tours and the daily visitor cap will be increased to 50,000 visitors from September 7

Before the new measures, visitors were previously only allowed to visit Japan on escorted tours, and the daily limit was at 20,000 visitors, but the country has since begun to reopen its borders.

All you have to do is book a package tour with licensed travel agencies such as Chan Brothers, JTB Travel, Dynasty Travel, Michi & Co, and more, with destinations in various Japanese cities, and you’re free to explore Japan on your itinerary. While travel agencies have not put out their non-escorted package tours for Japan yet, they’ll likely cover popular destinations such as Hokkaido, Osaka, Kyoto, and of course, Mt. Fuji.

What’s even better is that travellers no longer have to take a pre-departure PCR test as long as they are fully vaccinated and have taken their booster shots, making for fuss-free travel.

And just in time for Japan’s reopening, you can also book a flight on a Pokemon-themed aircraft for all the Pokemon lovers out there.

If you’ve been dreaming of travelling to Japan, stay tuned for travel packages you can book to visit, but for now, you can get your travel fix by visiting onsens and eating Japanese cuisine in Singapore.
