Malaysia is our favourite travel destination for a weekend getaway — I love making the trip across the border whenever I get the chance to. There’s so much to do, and even more to enjoy. Plus, the attractive exchange rate doesn’t hurt either.
One of the things I must do whenever I visit Malaysia is to stop by a cute pet cafe and cuddle with some furry friends, before carrying on with my day. If you’re like me and love cosying up with cute kitties, make sure to add this popular cat cafe to your list.
Aptly called Mao CATfe, this cat cafe is located in Kuala Lumpur and is home to over 20 cats — my allergies say no but my heart says I must go!
The cat cafe has an entry fee of around S$8.70 (RM30) for 30 minutes or S$14.50 (RM50) for one hour. For children below 12 years old, it is around S$4.35 (RM15) for 30 minutes and S$8.70 (RM30) for one hour. You can also bring your own cat out for some fun, and kitties enter for free of course, as long as they are vaccinated.
Inside the Mao room, you can cuddle and play with cute and furry kittens. I already have my eye on the cats I wanna cuddle with (Pumpkin, Toba, Doudou, Kiwi and Woohoo, I’m coming for you!)
When the cats are not lounging around the room, you can find them climbing up the cute structures, perched atop scratch poles and cat trees, or resting in their little cubby holes. Of course, there’ll definitely be one or two little mischievous ones that will sneak up on you and steal your food while you’re not looking — so adorable.
Fun fact: the cafe also doubles as a pet store for all your catty needs. The store has a ton of pet accessories too like cat strollers, cute outfits for your furkids, and of course some yummy treats for your furry little ones to enjoy.
You can also treat your furkid to a nice spa day at the groomers here as Mao CATfe also offers professional pet grooming services.
But what I’m most interested in are the scratcher nests that are absolutely adorable. They come in cute and quirky designs like an old school TV, a game machine and even a convenience store. I’m definitely getting the little mermaid one for my cat just for the laughs.
(Human) food-wise, the cafe has some pretty impressive dishes on their menu like Japanese-inspired rice bowls, croffles, and more. As for drinks, they have your usual cafe drinks. After playing with the kitties, you’ll definitely need something to replenish your energy and to recharge before continuing your KL adventure.
Are you in need of some cat-therapy? Head down to this cat cafe and cuddle with the cute kitties!
