Singapore’s largest outdoor skate park opens in Lakeside Garden with a parkour park, bouldering wall & more

Do you love skateboarding, doing some parkour, or bouldering? Imagine if there was a place in Singapore where you could do all three of these sports in one place — wouldn’t that be a dream? This dream just became a reality at Lakeside Garden, the newest extension to Jurong Lake Gardens.

The newest section of Lakeside Garden was open on 1 April 2023. The new seven hectares northern section is located just beside Lakeside MRT and was designed around the theme of “Nature, Play, Community”.

One of the highlights of the northern section is the SkatePark @ Lakeside Garden. It spans 17,000sqm and features five skate pods catering to skaters of varying skill levels. Whether you’re a pro skateboarder or a newbie to the sport, there are plenty of facilities here for you to hone your skills. The Learn to Skate Pod is catered for beginners with gentler slopes, and the Big Bowl Pod is for the pros with steeper drops and is up to 2.5m deep

Other pods to glide through are the Drain Pod, and the Mini Bowl Pod. The best part is the weather won’t ruin your skating fun as the park also features a sheltered outdoor skate pod, Plaza Pod. Just make sure you strap on your necessary protective gears and skate away. If you’re looking to learn skating, members of the skateboarding community will also be conducting classes in the various pods.

Both skateboarders and BMX riders can use the undulating pump track which is 280m long and 2m wide. It features a series of humps for riders to practise their pumping movements.

Apart from the skate park, the new northern section of the Lakeside Garden also features a parkour park and a bouldering wall — both are the first of its kind in Singapore. The parkour park comes equipped with bars, walls, and platforms of different heights for you to climb, jump, and leap over. The bouldering wall is 3m tall and 9m long, which is perfect for practising your bouldering moves.

But of course, if you prefer something less intense, the Lakeside Green is where you’ll want to be. It has a lawn area of about 4,000sqm and offers a spectacular view of Jurong Lake. There’s also a boardwalk that stretches out to the edge of the water.

After all the intense workout, you’ll need some food to fill your tummy. The Rainforest Pavilion will house the Ride Side Skate Cafe which will offer food and beverages, as well as skate retail services. It is slated to open sometime this month. And of course, there is also the pet-friendly and IG-worthy Starbucks outlet in Jurong Lake Gardens.

Ready to work up a sweat? Grab your skates and head over to Lakeside Garden for a fun-filled day under the sun!
