Matchaya: Whimsical Cloud Series, rice burgers & Cloud Hour promotion

Matchaya is unveiling its new Whimsical Cloud Series, inspired by Japan’s wagashi artistry and the philosophy of wabi-sabi. It will be available from 8 July 2026 at Matchaya Tea Studio in Tiong Bahru, alongside its refreshed 3.0 Menu

As its name suggests, Matchaya adds a playful twist to your usual cup of matcha, serving it with a stick of fluffy cotton candy. Enjoy it by pinching off small pieces to go with every sip, or simply stir the entire cotton candy into your drink. The whole idea is that you have fun with your matcha experience!

The series includes the Matcha Cloud 9 (S$9), Dirty Matcha (S$8), and Brown Butter Houjicha (S$8).

The Matcha Cloud 9 (S$9) is a refreshing, earthy layered creation topped with a silky sea-salt cloud. Infused with cooling coconut water, it lends its natural sweetness and light, tropical profile to matcha’s vegetal notes. Meanwhile, the foam and rim add a creamy, savoury finish that enhances the matcha’s umami.

Get hit with a bold roasted kick of espresso from their Dirty Matcha (S$8), featuring a single shot espresso, milk and matcha cream (Matcha 8). As you stir the matcha cream in, it balances the boldness of the dark roast espresso, rounding out its bitterness while allowing the earthy depth of matcha to delicately emerge..

The Brown Butter Houjicha (S$8) is made using roasted green tea powder (Houjicha), brown butter paste, brown butter cloud, and sea salt. The toasty, toffee-like flavours from the beurre noisette cloud paired perfectly with the smoky depth of houjicha.

Not to be missed is the Matcha Affogato ($12), a signature indulgence crafted for discerning matcha aficionados. It brings together two distinct expressions of the rare Okumidori cultivar, with Matchaya’s intensely rich Koicha and its silky housemade Matcha Soft Serve.

We also got a taste of their Matcha Appreciation & Wellness Workshop (S$75/pax) through a quick 15-minute session where we learned the proper way to savour matcha and whisked our very own Koicha to use in our Matcha Affogato. 

The usual workshop runs for 90 minutes and is held every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 11.30am. The immersive experience takes you on a journey through matcha’s rich history and culture, introduces the essentials of tea brewing and tasting, and ends with the rewarding ritual of whisking and crafting your very own cup of ceremonial matcha to enjoy.

Collagen-Rich Rice Burgers

Expanding beyond its signature beverages and desserts, Matchaya has also introduced a new Rice Burger series, crafted with rice fortified with chicken collagen for that added protein alongside benefits that support skin vitality and joint health. For those seeking a lighter alternative, each creation is also available in Naked Style, replacing the rice buns with double layers of crisp lettuce.

We first tried their Double Tamago with Cheese Rice Burger (S$12), which was loaded with a crisp breaded tamago, egg mayonnaise, and topped with aburi cheddar cheese, lettuce and fried shallot for that extra fragrance and crunch. It was definitely a hearty and flavour-packed burger.

Next, we had their Signature Matchaya Chicken Katsu Rice Burger (S$13), stacked with a thick piece of chicken katsu, tamago and lettuce. What really brought everything together was Matchaya’s house-made yuzu kosho matcha mayonnaise. Its bright citrusy tang and subtle hint of matcha helped cut through the grease, adding a refreshing and aromatic finish to every bite.

Also available are the Otak-Otak (S$12), Sriracha Ebi Tempura (S$14), Miso Vegetable (S$9), and Kani Mayo (S$12).

From 12 July 2026 to 17 July 2026,  3pm to 6pm, Matchaya will be having a promotion that gives you another reason to visit. With any Whimsical Cloud Series drink or Matcha Affogato purchased, you get a FREE Iced Matcha or Houjicha Latte. This promotion will only be available
